My portable Bose speaker has just started to buzz a few times in quick succession, then stop for half an hour or so (whilst not in use). I have unplugged it from mains power and disconnected the iPod but still happening. Any ideas how to stop it?

This may be caused by external interference.

If you have an AM radio available, turn it on and tune to mid-band (1000kHz for example) and leave it on.

If there is a strong source of static (table saw or other motor-driven AC device) it will show up at the same time as your buzz.

If it does not, try the FM band (~100MHz) and wait for the buzz to occur.

One cannot predict more exactly the nature of the interference.

Testimonial: "Thanks Steve - I will hook up a radio close to the speaker and monitor to see if it is interference! P."

I dropped the speaker in water yesterday. I turned it off & attemped to dry out now it won't charge.

You toasted your battery. Unfortunately, you are more than likely out of luck as water damage is not covered under the Bose warranty.

The next time, hopefully never again, you drop an electronic device in the water, DO NOT TURN IT ON! Remove the battery and let dry for 48 hours, with all possible covers removed.

Power indicator flash yed and yellow at the same time when trying charge it, and it is not actually charging.

these units are very compact and are not to be used for long periods of time at peak performance a few things may have happened
1-(you may have over charged the system)
2(the batteries my have leaked and failed)
3( the ac-dc components have failed)
in any case the system must be checked by a tech there's not easy fix for this unit. thanks for asking god bless!and good luck!

Buzzing static sound in speaker

Static can be caused by a few things.

Does the static persist if you unplug the audio cable from your computer?
If so, the static is being caused by the amplifier built in to your speakers.
If not, the static is probably caused by interference on your sound card. Try plugging the speakers in to a portable media player. You might need to replace the sound card in your computer.

Buzzing noise coming from speakers (bose acoustimass 5). volume up on the buzzing only happens in phono mode - no increase on other modes.Had amp since new and no probs. I think it was left on for a day...

The coupling capacitor on the phono input is possibly become leaky. Try replacing any small electrolytic capacitors you see near the input within the amp.

Bose Cinemate speakers stopped working

Sounds like you need to take them back for exchange. A new electronic product is most likely to fail in the first few months, when any weak or defective parts that made it through final test at the factory decide to **** out after a few hours of use. This is a very common situation, especially nowadays with manufacturers buying the cheapest parts they can find, and the general public crying out for lower prices instead of paying more money for better quality. Bose has traditionally been "top of the line" stuff, but even they have to cut corners to keep prices low and sell stuff in this economy.
