Question about Computers & Internet

Broken Screen Back of computer screen was hit and now screen will freeze and fade or picture will shuffle pieces of itself then fade into vertical colored lines. Shaking the computer sometimes causes it to straighten out but we are VERY afraid of further damaging it. We have found though that applying pressure to the frame in the upper left hand corner just right of the screw straightens the screen out permanently. My husband drives an18-wheeler and we are not going to be home for another month, cannot/cannot easily get into computer repair parking lots, and depend on this computer as our way of communicating with family and friends, and for bill pay, so your help would be so greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!! if you are not able to help, a reference would also be appreciated - really anything you could do would help. Thank you for being honest and giving it the best you could instead of just ignoring my problem. I honestly did not expect to hear back from anyone, because normally that is just the case with these kinds of sites. Because of your quick and helpful response though i will definitely be back in the future, and will let my friends know about you thank you again!

Also, do you know of any company that offers fairly priced service of this kind, be it best buy or circuit city or another? I'm not really sure who to look to.

Realy the only thing you can do in this instance is nurse it along
as you are doing, until you can get ti repaired.

the damage is done now and pressing and squeezing it is your only
solution. Im afraid there is no quick fix for this.

if you can use a desk top monitor the will be a great use
it will just plug in the back of the lap top not ideal but it will keep you running for now until you can have it fixed.

hope this helps you out

please rate me fair

I have audio but only see a white line going across sometimes i hit the tv and i get screen back on and sometimes by itself, what is this?

Sounds like vertical failure. Possible bad connection on the vertical output IC. If you have pretty good soldering skills and a soldering iron with solder you might could try it yourself.

A tv shop in my area would charge around 50.00 or so if its just a connection problem. I say connection because you mentioned hitting the tv to restore the picture.

If you want to try it yourself the connection problem most likely will be on the vertical output ic itself
Its a linear ic meaning straight thin with a one set of leads of 5-7 pins. It will be screwed to a heat sink (metal piece to disipate the heat). It will be soldered on the bottom of the board and most likely there will be cracks around at least one of the pins.. If your not good at soldering I wouldnt attempt the repair yourself..
Good luck!!!

PB Minos GP2W screen has coloured lines fades white then black

Most likely it's graphic card problem, but also may be monitor itself. First, check the signal by connecting to TV (if yours has a PC input), then replace card if that shows the same.

My Acer Laptop screen fades or goes out when moved

Try reseating the video cable/connector. Also connect an external monitor to the external video port, power up the monitor first then boot up the laptop. The video image should automatically divert to the monitor, if you see a normal video image then the video card is OK and the problem most likely the LCD screen.
