Question about Alba Televison & Video
The error message was that it was a bad disk and I have tried lots of new ones, and I have looked inside and blown all the dust out but it still says bad disk. it has just happened recently.
SOURCE: Samsung DVD-4600 DVD/VCR Player
My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.
So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.
Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.

SOURCE: DVD will not load/format new disk
I've had the same problem of the unit ejecting my blank DVD. However it was pointed out that the DVD's I'd bought were DVD+RW - I didn't know there were different types so I'm going to buy some DVD-RW but I'm worried having read your comments that it still won't work!!

SOURCE: "disk error" occurs when disk is inserted
the drive cannot read data from the disk, follow these instutions:
if you are using vista, right click on "computer" then select "manage"
then select "device manager". look down the list until you find CD/DVD
and click on the + icon next to it, then right click on the CD/DVD and
select un-install (make sure that there is a disk in the
drive, preferably a movie or music CD) then restart the computer, when
the computer restarts vista will detect the drive and install the
drivers again, look in computer to see if the disk has been recognised
let us know how you get on

SOURCE: New DVDs will not complete the format process.
Try unplugging Samsung for a minute or so. Re-start and try again. Worked for me.
