Wireless connection problem with the MR814v2

Some computers can easily connect to the MR814v2, but then there are other computers, (which I suspect has too new/old network card)that can connect perfectly with cable, but can't wireless. I get the network in the wireless network list, but can't connect to it. What do I do?

All computers have diffrent IPs, and this problem does not solve itself by trying to connect only one computer with no other connected to the router. However, the router currently send automatic IPs. My progress shows that the problem have nothing to do with security, as I can't connect even though I disabled the WEP key security.

As I mentioned earlier, I can't even connect with the security password off, and resetting the router didn't work. I'd say it's time for a new router.

Try accessing the router by using the webpage address: ie linksys is: 192.168.1.1

and disable the security settings and save the setting and then try it on the other computers. If that doesn't work then see if there is a reset button on the back of the router. Push it in for a few seconds and then search for the wireless network which should be the routers name with a strong signal. If it still doesn't work then maybe the wireless portion of the router is going bad.

Hope this helps

First of all please make sure that your laptop wifi switch is on and all the needed driver are installed properly.

Once your have installed all the driver restart both, your netgear and your laptop.

Hope this will solve your problem.

For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Then click on administration and change password .
Then Click on wireless settings enable wireless then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.

I am trying to get my netgear mr814v2 to connect to the internet via hard wire to comcast with no luck. the connection is good when i go direct from teh computer

If you connect the computer to the modem it works, that means the modem is working.
Now connect the modem and the computer to the router and open the router set up page.
Clone the MAC address of the computer on the router and power cycle the network.
That will work.

I can not access my wireless internet network with my new computer. I have a netgear wireless router model MR814v2. I can get onto the internet when directly connected to my modem. However, when I try to...

Hook directly to the router hard wire. Go to configuration page for router and look at wireless security settings. it will show you Wep or some other encryption technique. It will also give you a place to view or change your wireless key. Once you do that write the key down and then connect wirelessly.

Problem connecting wirelessly using netgear router MR814v2

Hi, you should consider changing your security to WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK encryption instead of WEP as WEP can be cracked in a matter of minutes, even 128bit keys can be cracked easily. Plus there's no confusion over the four WEP keys generated.

With WPA you choose the key so it can be a word instead of random key, making it easier to remember. Just make sure its not a simple word that can be guessed, and use random numbers or characters so something like 64ranDomWordz92. Its case sensitive too so chucking in capitals makes it even harder to guess. Don't forget to write it down in case you forget it, make sure you write it correctly.

Now you know which key your using, go to manage wireless networks on your laptop and delete any profile you have for your network. Now when you try to connect, it will ask for your WPA / WPA2 passkey, just type it in and hit enter, you should now be connected.

Let me know if you need help with any of the above.
