Does it have the option to turn the turn table off if so turn it off and see if noise goes away if so turn table motor very common over time it will default back to on on next cycle

Hello there Jerry Sorry it took so long getting back to you i just finished moving into my new home and just got my internet today ok ill send you a troubleshooting steps However this error code usually turn out to be a problem with the controle panel of the microwave and the only fix for these is to replace the part ok i will post the rest of the troubleshooting steps in a following comment ok Best regards Mike
I have a similar Kitchen Aid model. The little light inside my unit also went out. I called Kitchen Aid and they scheduled a tech to come out to change it. He said the only way to get to it is to pull the unit out from the wall (it's a built in unit). $150.00 bucks later I had a light for about another year before it burned out too. Needless to say, the heck with it, I don't need the light that bad.
Is it a carousel (turning platter)? if it is, than it is probably dirt on the platter support wheels and the platter support groove/track on the bottom of the oven, clean the glass plate, the support wheels, and the bottom groove as well, if you want to make sure the crackling comes from the carousel system, take it all out (support and platter) than place a glass of water in the oven and start it, if there are no crackling noise than my theory is correct, if the noise is still there than have it checked by a professional technician...
sometime the kitchen has gfc outlets around the walls and one of them tripped. but not likely , it sounds like the microwave fried some valuable circuitry.
