What size tank? when it's really cold a small tank will not produce enough vapor fast enough. It could be a weak valve in the tank snap'n shut If the fuel comes out to fast. Could also be high temp switch on back of burner going bad. That happens alot.

if the propane cylinder is almost empty you maybe getting a concentration of murcapton(spelling?)this odorant is added to propane so it has an odor.when the gas gets low in the cylinder you can pull more odorant that may have settled in the bottom of the tank over time. there are other reasons since you are dealing with an unvented heating product , such as other odors fron oils, cleaning products, paint, etc. there could other problems so you may want to take it to your local propane store. jr

Ihave a 175000 btu Lite 2 Jandy Pool Heater model # LD175P. It takes approx 3 hrs to go from 48 degrees to 100 . Why so long? The spa is 7ft in diameter and normal spa depth.Should I have a more btu heater?...

That seems to be a pretty good heating rate. You're talking about 52 degrees in 3 hours. If you want quicker heating, you will need a higher output heater.

What is the meaning of BTU?

British thermal unit: a unit of heat equal to the amount of heat required to raise one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit at one atmosphere pressure; equivalent to 251.997 calories. The amount of heat needed to raise 1 pound of water 1 degree F (equal to 252 calories).
(British thermal unit) Describes the heat value of fuel for appliances - the higher the BTU, the more heat available for cooking.
A Btu is equivalent to 252 calories and serves as the base unit for measuring the heat content of a fuel source.

There is something wrong with the room sensor. Wires cut, shorted or disconnected.

I have a Rennai Cosyglow RE650 that cuts out after a very short time and will only stay on if you hold the ignition lever down.

Sounds like the thermocouple needs changing. This is the flame failure device, they can burn out after a few years. Recommend getting a technican to fix it but you could ask him to make sure he has a thermocouple for this model on his first visit to save paying for two calls.

Temperature fluctuates while flow remains constant.(within the pump cut in/out settings) Max temp obtainable 43c

This sounds like a common problem with tankless type water heaters. The modulating burner has a set Btu range it can operate within, a maximum and minimum. With very low flow rates and very low temperature rises, the burner has trouble maintaining a steady output temperature because the btu load drops below the heater's minimum input. Typically the machine will overheat the water beyond it's setpoint, the burner will cut out, and then re-ignite once the output temperature has dropped low enough.
The solution to stopping this behavior is to simply increase the water flow through the device (i.e. higher flowing fixture or larger pump). This type of problem is exaserbated with recirculation systems that bring a very high water temperature to the unit.
Higher end tankless brands have a lower minimum input btu and thus fewer problems with this.
