same thing happened 2 me buddy i got rockband 4 christmas it would spin but very little so i went and got a new ps2 the slim version now i can play all of the games even ps1 games there the best ur ps2 is just old
The PS2 has two different lasers, one for CD games and one for DVD games. The tuning for each is independent. If DVD games are working and CD games are not (backups or originals, PS1 or PS2) and cleaning the CD laser doesn't work and everything's connected together well then you may need to tune/align the CD laser. Just go to Lycos.com and type in 'PS2 laser alignment'. My favorite is the one from Sweden.
you might want to get a long q-tip and gently put alcohol on it and swap the lens.then have another tip ready to dry off. ps2 games are basiclly a dvd . and you can find info about a lawsuit that sony has against them for not being able to read dvd's.
well 2 things, 1 HD i don't think works on a PS2, but it does on a PS3 with a HDMI lead, also, playing copied games, watching copied DVD's and listening to copied CD's is illegal unless you have the originals of those discs, in which case use the originals or get ur ps2 chipped in a Computer fair (NOT RECOMMENDED)
harpy_125..yes they do .but you do need an old version memory card to memorise your games. does it play music cds . if so it should read the games as these are only cd and not dvd..
Hi Raven,
Its sounds like you have a PS2 Slim with a melted Laser. What you will find is that the Slim will only read CD's, CDR's, PS1 Games, Blue back PS2 games and DVD's. I can repair this for $35 plus shipping to and from The Playstation Clinic in Fountain Inn, SC. The webpage is www.playstationclinic.com If you do not have a Slim, you either have dirty disc, or Lens. You may have left some fibers from the Q-tip across or around the lens.
the cd my not be a good tip for the system
