I have a Toro Personal Pace Recycler mower with a 6.0 hp GTS engine. I need help on replacing the pull cord.

It's not that hard. I've never done it on my Toro GTS 5.0, but I have done it on a Briggs and it's pretty much the same. Start by removing the 10mm bolts around the perimeter of the engine shroud. DON'T remove the 4 top bolts on the recoil housing. You might have to remove the fuel tank first. Drain it, then loosen the 2 8mm screws and lift it straight up. No need to disconnect the fuel line, just set the tank aside. After removing the 10mm bolts, the shroud should lift right off. Flip it over and you will see the recoil pulley. Remove any leftover cord from the pulley. Now you need to wind the pulley against the spring in the direction it goes when you pull the cord. It might wind 2 or 3 revolutions but don't overdo it. Now you will need some sort of clamp to hold the pulley in place as you line up the slot in the pulley with the opening where the handle goes. Next, feed the new cord through the opening and into the pulley and tie a knot to keep it from slipping out. Carefully release the clamp and let the pulley slowly wind the new cord onto itself. Finally, attach the handle on the other end of the cord and test it. If you can pull the handle and the cord comes out and it retracts normally, re-install the shroud and tank.

Totr model #20479 GTS 5 motor, when you push prime

Fuel Starvation - Float Bowl Carburetor
1) remove air filter assembly
*be cautious of tearing the mounting gasket. If it does tear, you HAVE to replace it. It is part of the priming system
2) remove the float bowl fastener. This is the main jet
3) carefully remove the float bowl, the rubber o-ring/gasket will not be able to be used if it is removed, you WILL have to replace it
4) using a spray 'carb cleaner'
spray up thru the center of the carburetor
spray and clean the main jet with cleaner and 'tag' wire
(tag wire is very thin, and can be used to clean the hole in the center of the main jet)
5) clean any debris from inside the bowl or carb body
6) re-install bowl and center bolt, air filter assembly

*if you need gaskets, your Briggs dealer can supply. The kit is cheaper than individual gaskets, and all the parts needed to finish the above repair are in the kit.

Engine starts when primed but stops in seconds. When you push the primer button five times and then pull the rope, the engine starts, but then kills. It's a 6.5 hp on a Toro Recycling GTS mower. I ran it...

it sounds like you have contaminants in the fuel and have clogged the fuel filter or carburetor, try changing fuel filter if there is one and back flush the fuel lines with carb cleaner spray and clean out fuel tank and clean with brake cleaner refill with fresh fuel.

Where is air filter on toro recycler

To know for sure, I need to know what kind of engine is on it. Toro only makes the mower, the engine is made by another company. Assuming it's a Briggs and Stratton in the 4-6 hp range, it would be behind a flat vertical cover on the right side with one screw at the top. Part # 491588
