Explorer Fails to Start

Hey whenever I turn on my computer and log in to Windows, it takes a while to log in and then the screen goes blank, and a browser window (Windows Explorer, don't get confused now) pops up, instead of the normal Windows interface (explorer.exe, not the same program) starting. I have to manually start it by going to C:/Windows/explorer.exe and everything runs fine. I just need help getting around this inconvenience, as it is quite annoying having to do that every time I log in.

P.S. just so you don't get confused, there are 2 different programs, Windows Explorer, which is what you use to locate/move/copy/paste/etc. your files, and there is explorer.exe, which is the interface that everything operates on.

Do you have all the latest patches and are you sure you computer is free of virus or malware? If you feel you are protected then did this occur shortly after an MS Patch/update. Check and see if you can either unistall the last patch or boot to the last known good configuration (press F8 between the bios splash screen and the windows splash screen at boot up). If you are not up to date on your security, then start with that and then work your way into a repair...

try starting your computer in safe mode. if you see anything that you havent installed, delete it and try restarting. if it doesn't work, then you probably will need to do the system recovery

Dreamcast shows logo then goes blank

Definately the DC. Try ensuring that the connections are properly made first, and if that fails, try wiping the laser lens (very carefully) and the disc with a smooth cloth.

Laptop problem

hey

Pranay first of all you should avoid using software which are pirated and opt for original windows.

as you said your screen goes blank for that you need to scan your system with a free software which is Hijackthis which is available on google.com scan and send paste the log file in this window and I will tell you what has to be done. Moreover you need to scan your system with sav32cli antivirus which will scan your system at the command prompt.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.

Windows XP fails to load and Computer will not start up.

Boot from startup floppy disks or CD-ROM, choose repair option during setup, and run Recovery Console. When you are logged on, you can run FIXMBR command to fix master boot record. This should solve your problem.
