Dual Layer how to burn?

The software that came with the DVD-DL device should be able to burn 8GB to dual-layer media.

If not, access http://www.MajorGeeks.com and download the _free_ "Ashampoo Burning 6" software.
Install it, and use it to create & burn onto dual-layer media.

Wont recognize burned disk

Is the burned disk recognized in some other computer?

Is any "official" (purchased music CD, or purchased DVD video, or purchased Microsoft software) disk recognized when inserted into the device?

If you burn a disk on your computer, can your computer then read that burned disk?

Hp dual layer dvd burner with light scribe doesnt recognize the dual layer disc as dual layer

You may have to install some kind of DVD burner software such as Nero burning ROM to burn dual layer DVDs. the default windows CD burner does not recognize dual layer disks. You can also use this free software for burning dual layer disks

My drive will not burn dvd-r anymore but it used to, it burns cd-r and reads discs no problem, but now when i try to burn the disc spins but makes a strange knocking noise.

sometime it has more to do with the driver software than it does with the unit itself.
Try uninstalling the writer software, restart the computer, reinstall the software, restart the computer, and attempt burn again. Software occaisionally gets confused and needs to be "rebooted" from time to time. Hope this helps.

CD & DVD player driver

Laser failure is very common on CD and DVD players/recorders, they are very easy to change and very inexpensive these days.
I keep three or four of this one on the shelf in my workshop all the time.

The beauty of this one is that it comes with both a black and a beige bezel to suit most machines, it is also a "retail" version so it comes with burning and playback software, not all burning software will recognize all burners and often people phone me up asking why the new burner they have bought (OEM) will not burn, infact their burning software cannot even recognize their new burner.
Also some burners do not recognize all makes of CD and DVD disks, I have yet to come accross a make of disk that that Liteon doesn't burn with no problems.

Blank disc not recognized

Sorry no solution, but why burn with mediaplayer/realplayer? you get better results with nero, or other burn dedicated software. Hope you work it out
