REAL FACT is: If all individual components of the heater are at 100% but the air pump pressure is not on it's mark, then the heater WILL NOT continue to run!
Air Pump Pressure is directly related to fuel delivery. Read that statement again! It is the most important line of text on this website.
If the pump pressure is incorrect, then, the fuel delivery will be incorrect. As a result, the heater will not run to specs.
Instructions for setting the air pump pressure:
Air pump pressure is the pulse of the heater. Pump pressures range from 3 psi to 6 psi depending on heater BTU size (see chart below). A loss of ONLY 1 psi translates to a 30% to 17% loss of FUEL FLOW (starvation). You must know the specified required pressure and set the pressure accordingly.
Heaters with Hot Surface Ignitor technology are extremely critical to pump pressure. If the pressure is off by 1/2 psi, the heater may run for 5 seconds, then shut down because of IGNITION FAILURE. The only way to correct this problem is to set the pump pressure to DESA's recommended pressure specification.

  1. The FIRST STEP in diagnosing any heater problem should be checking the output of the air pump. Determine the air pressure required for the heater model that is being tuned. The air pump, in turn, is responsible for fuel delivery.
  2. If you do not know the required pressure look for a decal on the side (usually) of your heater. This decal will state the model number, serial number, fuel capacity, pump pressure, etc.
  3. If your plastic end cover looks like this......
starts then shuts off - m29609t.jpgM29609 has 2 threaded holes. The hole on the left has a square plug inserted. Remove the plug. Screw in the nipple end of the gauge into the threaded hole. Check for air leaks with soapy water.

If your plastic end cover looks like this......
m16545t.jpgM16545 has 2 threaded holes. The shorter projection with a hole on the left has a square plug inserted. Remove the plug. Screw in the nipple end of the gauge into the threaded hole. Check for air leaks with soapy water.
4. The other hole (longer projection) has a screw with a hole which adjusts a ball and spring relief valve assembly. Carefully adjust the screw until the gauge is reading the pressure level that is specified on the heater's label. If operating properly, the pump should produce more pressure than is required to operate the heater. The relief valve allows the excess air to escape before being sent to the nozzle.
5. Replace plug. Test for leak.
6. If you are unable to reach the desired pressure spray soapy water around the seal of the end cover- at the same time check the plastic cover for a crack. A cracked end cover will not allow the heater to perform properly and will not allow for an accurate reading. The pump must be set at the specified pressure in order to have adequate fuel delivery an adequate fuel atomization. Replace if needed.
7. If you set the pressure to specs and the heater does not perform properly or the cone does not glow a soft red, then check for other fuel delivery problems such as a clogged fuel filter, cracked rubber hose, clogged or worn nozzle, or a cracked nozzle adapter. Soapy water lightly sprayed in these areas will quickly identify the problem most of the time. Any air leak will create problems.

2007 Tahoe. When slowing down to a stop, truck shuts off.. Power steering stiffen..the restart never sounds good

Sounds like air and or fuel restriction. Start with the air filter, Just remove it and see if it helps. Also check the throttle body inside. Clean it with brake clean and a toothbrush. Especially around where the throttle plate rests.. Next go after the fuel filter.

Shuts down and gives me failure E 1 on the card and will not start

E1 = The air filters need cleaning (after 720 Hours use)
It will shut down until you clean the filters & reset the E1 alarm code.
To do this you need to:
Pull the Air Con appliance lead out of the power outlet in the wall.
Remove & Clean the air filters & then put the cleaned filters back in machine
Before plugging back in you Push & Hold the Power button on the Unit
THEN while holding the power button you PLUG the lead back into the wall.
Keep Holding the power button until you hear the unit emit a beep (hold for approx 5 secs)
Then disconnect the power supply lead again.
Then Plug it back in again & turn on
It should be cleared & working well.
Good luck

Cubcat pushmower will start but then shuts off

In general, any engine that starts but then shuts off may have limited fuel flow. Check for a clogged fuel filter if one is present, and make sure the air inlet hole, usually in the fuel tank filler cap, is not plugged. Also make sure the air filter is clean and the exhaust/muffler is not clogged with carbon. If it starts, its usually not an electrical or spark issue. Chain saws, weedwackers, blowers and the like may have an "impulse tube" from the cylinder to the carburetter that looks like an extra fuel line. If this gets a hole and lets air in, it will cause the same problem, especially if the engine is run up to operating speed. An engine needs spark at the right time, air and fuel in the right mixture for a given operating speed, and enough fuel and air flow rate to deliver the needed power, which is why the filters must be kept clean.

Yamaha 2000 run poorly at higher altitude

What elevation are you at? Start with simple things such as clean the air filter, fresh gas, clean/replace spark plug. Also check oil level most generators have a low oil shut off yours may be attempting to shut down

Projector is showing warning

Possible that the lamp is weak and is nearing the replacement time but it is also important to check and see if the fan filter is clean, if not brush and use air pressure to clean up so that the ventillation is good and the air flow for cooling is good.
check the power supply and if there is any smell from the projector then you must shut down and check the power supply and main board for capacitor leak or failures.

Dometic rooftop a/c compressor will not shut off. The only way to stop the compressor is to shut it off at the breaker. The fan and all other funtions operate properly from the thermostat. I tried...

I had the exact same problem, duo-therm AC unit on my RV the compressor ran continuosly, had to shut it off at the breaker. I too replaced the relay board thinking it was a stuck relay but the problem was still there. Good news is I found the problem. I took the cover off the thermostat panel inside the coach and found the thermostat wire marked "cool", was loose. I tightened this connection and the compressor shut down. Looks like the compressor and fan use seperated thermostat wires. Easy fix, and now I have a spare relay board that I didnt end up needing in the first place :-) Solution= check your thermostat connections at the terminal block inside your thermostat panel, they are probably loose.

Air conditioner turns on then shuts itself off immediately

There's something wrong with your aircon. Usually the lights will start to blink. Depending on the brand and model, the number of times it blinks will give you an error code which tells you what's spoilt. You may like to check this out http://www.astiquer.com/blinking.html
