Remove all screws on the back of the tv, carefully pull off back cover. you will see two circuit boards one on the left (Power) and one on the right (Video) on the Video board there is a small plug on the right side with a yellow, white and red wire going into a small white connector. the red wire is what controls the orange light on the front. now that the plug is pulled turn it over and you should see a small white plastic piece that holds each metal connector on the end of the wires in. pry this piece of plastic up for the red wire and pull at the same time, the wire will come out of the connector. now tape the metal connector with electrical tape and tuck it behind something or tape it to the chassis. plug your connector back in. put the rear cover back on. now your tv will only show the vizio logo in white when you have the power on. If you wish to disable the logo for both orange and white just disconnect the white plug completely.
That little fella is only turned off by unplugging it. If all those little lights in America could be turned off we could do with one less nuclear power plant. If unplugging it is not an option, my wife's solution is to cover it with a piece of black tape.

Hello jvcflreagent, This looks like a power supply problem. According to my database the problem could be the following: IC901 (8 pin reg ICE3B1565) ZD902 (1N5338, NTE5116, 5.1 volt zener) R912 (see value) R913 (see value) and the 47uf 50VDC capacitor If you have a soldering iron and a desoldering pump you can remove these items, If not I would suggest getting a qualified TV technician to look at the tv and repair it. In addition you may just want to replace the power supply board. I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

possibly is the main board.
SOURCE: Power is there, but TV won't turn on
stored voltages are high no touching these circuts becuase they hold charges and alot of screws.
fualty capacitors you say after a while it stays on theres a full charge in the unit theres some type of discharging effect on the set after its off for a while. voltage goes to low or unstable after it is off for a while. your better off getting the service docs for this set if you want to diy..other wise get a tv tech to check it for you. hope this helps

Hi.
If the TV does not start with the new audio board, and if it does start with the old one, then the audio board that you recently purchased is defective.
About the board : 0500-0507-0230; that is the power board (PSU). If you could see the Vizio logo, that means that TV started, and that the power board was OK without need for testing. When the power board is defective, either the TV does not give any sign of life, or the TV goes in standby mode from start and does not wake up. In that case the led stays blinking to warn you that there is an incorrect voltage from PSU.
If the TV is freezing with Vizio logo, that means that at most the faulty part is the main board.
Also, you say that there is no backlight. No backlight means that the screen is completely dark. If there is no backlight you won't be able to see the logo or any other picture. If there is no backlight, then the problem is usually the inverter.
Here a brief article summarizing how to test PSU and inverter: How to test an LCD TV.
Here all parts for this model:GV42LHDTV.
Regard.
