If you are able to find a supplier please post back where you found it. I work for a vacuum repair store in Greenville, SC and we have not been able to find belts for Shark vacuums.

Oreck XL Vacuum. Is there a special tool needed to stretch a new belt over the roller and drive shaft?

There are a couple of tricks. One is to put the belt on the shaft first and them roll it onto the brush roller. The other way which I did in my hotel (I had 3 of them) is to pull the brush out, put the belt on the spindle shaft, then onto the roller, the you can stretch the belt with it already in place and lower the roller into place.

The belts are stiff.

The turbo tool for pet hair on my Hoover power vac doesn't rotate. I removed the brush and cleaned but still doesn't work. Suction is fine without the tool attached.

Have you checked the drive belt on the pet head? Mine comes apart and a thin belt is driven by the propellers which in turn drive the brush head via the drive belt. To check turn propeller and see if brush head rotates if not belt missing broken / jammed

Have suction but belt not moving

Are you referring to the drive belt on the power head? Remove the power head and try vacuum without it, if it picks up fine, the problem in in the power head/hose assembly, could have a blockage inside the head of the hoses attached to the head. If those are all OK, look for an air leak in the system. at/around the bag, canister, loose clamps, etc.

How do I get a new belt to repace a broken one in a DC23 turbine head

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The Turbine head's belt is not a part we would ask a customer to fit, and therefore it's not available as an individual component. It's part of the turbine drive mechanism, and we'd advise against attempting to dismantle this as it could result in damage to the Turbine head. If the Turbine head happened to fail within the Dyson warranty period we should normally be able to replace it, as long as it's been used and maintained according to the User guide. Out of warranty, a replacement Turbine head could be chargeable.

Kenmore canister power head not working?

Without more info, I would investigate the drive belt, make sure the beater bar is free to spin (no hair or carpet fibers twisted onto the moving parts), and then check that the power is getting to the motor of the power head. Most often it is hair/fibers that collect around the ends of the beater bar. This causes the belt to stall, heat up and stretch due to the drive motor shaft spinning on one spot because the belt can't move. After removing twisted hair/fibers, you probably only need to replace the belt.

We have a Miele Silver Moon vacuum that isn't

Hi dear. There are two type of attachments for this vacuum cleaners to pick up the pets hair, fluff & so on.They call it"Turbo & Power Brush".Turbo brush operates with machines suction & Power one operates with small electric motor which is built in the unit. They work with the same prenciple. There is a belt drives the rotary brush.OK.there are two small yellow screw underneath the unit. Please undo them, take of the cover & clean the rotary brush, check for the belts tension. It should be enough tight to drive the brush. If not ask for spare part from Miele in your country. After cleaning please put it back in order. To test it,attached to the vacuum.Turn the power on for Turbo brush,as long as suction starts, brush should start turning too.For the Power one, there should be power button on the handle to turn it on & off.Press it.It should work.On both of the unit, brush should spin good & strong enough to do the job when it's attached the surface you are vacuuming.Check the brush after each use, cleaned if neccesary. I hope that helps.Thanks.

My Generation 3 Kirby Vacuum is giving off a burnt rubber smell when I vacuum. I have tried to raise the height of the head but it still happens. Can you tell me what could be causing rubber to burn? ...

The belt driving the brush roller in the power head is slipping. It is really just a big thick rubber band. Where it wears out it slips and burns due to friction.

Look at the bottom of the power head. There is a cover plate held with 2 to 4 screws. Remove the plate and you will see the roller and drive belt. Slip the roller out and remove the belt.

Go to your local vacuum dealer and get a replacement.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

The brushes will not turn when on and cannot move them even manually

Drive belt has most likely broke and jammed inside the power head. Remove the bottom plate on the power head and replace the drive belt.
