Medion MD-96032 Hi all,i shut down my laptop last night(11/11/07).When i turned it on today,after the windows xp logo screen it has gone to a permanently black screeen instead of the select user screen.Have you guys got any idea's on what has gone wrong ?

    I have a Medion MD 96480, only 3 months old.

    I turned it of as usual this morning, when i tried to turn it on tonight, nothing, i am only getting a black screen, no start up logo or anything.

    Any suggestions please otherwise it will have to be returned to where i bought it which concerns me as it has email address etc on laptop.

Are you able to see the screen as if just the back lighting is turned off?

No mate,after the windows loading logo disappears the screen is blank but is lit up

I have the same problem. It happend once before, I restarted the computer and then it was black, nothing happend. But it worked next morning after 10 hours. Now it didn't help to start it after 10 hours, but it might help if you dont start it before 3-4 days, not sure, I'm trieing it now...

I live in Westyorkshire, if you was close to me i would have offered to have a look at the laptop for you, but in this case i think somewhere local will have to do.

Stuck on logo screen
I hate to tell you, but that is bad news. But before we jump to any conclusions, first open up the computer and look for the BIOS reset jumper on the motherboard, if you find it switch it to clear CMOS for around 20-30 seconds and then put it back on normal and see if it boots. If it doesn't, there isn't much more we can do, as your motherboard most likely decided to keel over and die.
