AC is approx. 145 lbs per cubic ft.
there are 27 cubic ft in 1 cubic yard
60 tons x 2000 = 120000 divided by 145 = 827.58 cubic ft divided by 27 = 30.65 cubic yards

square yards would depend on thickness of AC.
you can take thickness x sq ft to get cubic ft

in concrete 1 cubic yard =
4 inch thickness = 81 sq ft or 9 sq yrds
6 inch thickness = 54 sq ft or 6 sq yards

This calculator is designed to give the volume in both cubic feet and cubic yards, and the tons of asphalt hot mix required for the form size you have entered. The tonage calculation is specific to asphalt only. In our equations, 1 cubic yard of hot asphalt mix weighs 2.025 tons, or 4050 lbs.13 Jul 2011

How many cubic yards does it take to cover 1 inch deep, 3700 square feet?

Since we are trying to calculate the number of cubic yards, let's calculate everything in terms of yards.

Converting inches to yards, we have to divide by 36, since there are 36 inches in a yard.

1 ' = 1/36 yard

Converting square feet to square yards, we divide by 9, since there are 9 square feet in a square yard.

3700 square feet = 411 square yards

Calculating cubic yards, we multiply 411 square yards by 1/36 of a yard.

I get 11.42 cubic yards. So you are safe getting 12 cubic yards.

Good luck,

Paul

I needs to convert 1,361 cubic yards of 3/4" crushed rock to tons

Using the weight info provided in the link - 1 cubic yard could be about 2,780lbs. Depending on water content, density of and type of stones in the mix - 1 cubic yard could approach a weight as great as 4,000lbs.

Let's assume for easy calculations that an average cubic yard weighs 3,000lbs. (or 3,000lbs/2,000lbs = 1.5 tons).
That means 1,361yds x 1.5tons = 2,041.5 tons.

Lighter average cubic yards as mentioned in the link? Then 2780lbs/2000lbs = 1.39tons/yd. - or -
1361yds x 1.39tons = 1891.9 tons

Heavier average cubic yards as mentioned in the link? Then 4000lbs/2000lbs = 2tons/yd - or -
1361yd x 2tons = 2722 tons.

Convert tons to yards

something wrong with that question:
because "ton" is for WEIGHT
and "yard" is for DISTANCE!
short ton = 2,000 lb (about 907.18kg).
1 yard = 3feet = 36 inch or 0,9144 Meter

Norah has 2/3 ton of stone to spread equally in 4 square yards. how many tons of stone will be spread in each square yard

The question is worded in such a way to be open to misunderstanding. I feel it could mean Norah must spread her stone at the rate of 2/3 of a ton per square yard across 4 square yards and the total is sought.
It could also be saying that Norah has 2/3 of a ton to be divided equally across 4 square yards and is seeking the amount of stone each square yard needs.

In the former case it is a matter of multiplying the vulgar fraction by four and in the latter case the answer could be approached by considering the total amount of stone given is four times the answer that is required and so would be given by dividing 2/3 by 4/1 or more simply by multiplying by 1/4 and not forgetting to cancel the resulting fraction down to the lowest common denominator.

A better way for practical purposes would be to convert 2/3 of a ton into pounds and then divide by four. A workman required to do the work would not be messing around with fractions but would be working in pounds and tons or if using Imperial measure it would be pounds, stones, hundredweight and tons.

SHow much tonage does my house 7 rooms needs?

The basic standard to figure out how many tons of air is needed is to get the square footage of every room that has a ceiling or floor boot. You need at least 1 cfm per square foot. So for example, if you have a 2000 square foot house, you need at least 2000 cfm which is converted into 5 tons of air. You convert cfm into tons with every 400 cfm/square foot being 1 ton of air. This is only residential of course and all ceiling heights at around 8 to 10 ft. Some other factors fall into play, but thats the basics. Hope this helps.
