Remove the waste toner cartridge from a canon imagerunner 6020. I wasn't sure and couldnt get the instructions from the 5570 to work

actually you must reset the waste toner counter by enter the service mode

see at the bottom right side of right panel there is a ractangle vertical panel take out the panel behind it there is waste toner container.

This is incorrect. You can manually empty the waste. Make sure you remove the small clear plastic part that is on the side and empty it as well (this is what the sensor looks at to tell the macine it is full)

the wast toner box is located on right sideway of copier in lower right section, covered with marrow and long plastic cover, right from paper pass and bypass door.

on right hand side is waste toner you should be able to dump it yourself the main problem is reseting the counter that is not included in your manual Go into service mode by depressing the additional function key, then 2 & 8 at the same time, then aditionall function key. Select copier, then at the top far left side select counter. I blieve the counter is under MISC as waste toner. Select waste toner, depress the " C " buton on the keypad and it should reset to all 0's

MAKE SURE IS POWERED OFF. MANY REST IN REMOVAL POSITION WHEN POWERED OFF.

remove the small lower( rear)right side cover 2screw then you will see the waste bottle youcan pull it out and throw away the waste toner

on one back-side corner. You need to remove at least two covers to make it easier. I suggest you to remove the back (the lower, big cover) and there you should be able to see the deposit. It must be close to the bottom, on one corner. Once you see it you may want to remove the cover that has it trapped (do not try to pull it towards you since you might break a locking mechanism it has) and then you will be able to easily slide the deposit out. Vaccum it and (Important) clean the bottle neck up with a wet rug. then get it back in making sure it follows its little path.

If you can find the main power switch to the machine, you can find the waste toner bottle. Find the doors on the right side of the copier that are used to clear paper jams, or find the bypass tray. Then look towards the rear of the machine and you will find a small cover where the on/off switch is located that is attached with two screws. Remove the screws, pull out the bottle and dump the waste. Slide the bottle back, reattach the cover and you are done.
