Turned off power, held clock button for 8 seconds and nothing changed. It was on 12 hr. Until today. I don't know how it got changed.

NOTE: 12/24 HOUR TIME IS SELECTED BY PRESSING RESET/LIGHT ONLY WHEN THE HOURS MARKER IS
FLASHING. THE “A” OR “P” WILL DISAPPEAR WHEN THE
WATCH IS SET TO 24-HOUR TIME.

When setting-up the time (by pushing the "mode" button), the alarm time set comes up first, followed by the time set.
When setting the proper hour in this mode, simply continue through the military "24 hour" cycle and the second cycle of 24 hours will be in the 12 hour format.
Continue through and finish the mode set-up function and your up and running. --

We also purchased the same alarm clock and I accidentally figured out how to convert to 12 hour (AM/PM) format from 24 hour format. Once the time is set correctly, and you are out of the time set mode, you can press the UP key and it will toggle between the formats.

Well...this solution may be a few years late for the original poster, but I did figure it out on mine. If it's the same clock that sits on a rubber stand and you press the top edge back to activate the light, to toggle between 12 hour and 24 hour clock, you press the + and - buttons, simultaneously, for 3 seconds.
