Does it work for voice recognition with only the phone? I can't speak for the functions of the phone. The phone has to be capable.

Page 5/6 talk to limitations of the phone.

I have the Garmin nuvi 255W GPS (car). The voice anouncements stopped in mid instruction and I have been unable to get it restarted. Maps still ok. What's my problem???

Did you tried reset procedure. There are two resets. 1) Soft reset. 2) hard reset. The hard reset will delete all the data in your GPS so get the back up first before performing the hard reset. If you want to try this, make sure you've backup the data in your unit before answering to Yes. --------------- Reset procedure sets the unit to Factory settings on which the unit actually came to you.So all the sound and other settings get automatically set and unit mostly gets working in most of the cases. --------- The procedure is as follows:--- In the Quick Start Manual of Garmin Nuvi 255w GPS, it stated that you can reset the unit by pressing the RESET button at its bottom. However, the RESET button is not found on some Nuvi 255w.

Additional information in the Owner's Manual stated that if RESET button is not found, slide the POWER key and hold it for more than 8 seconds will do the same.
----------------- The Hard reset Now:--Try this only if the above soft reset does not helps:--- Another section in the Owner's Manual under the title "Clearing User Data" stated that holding your finger on the lower-right corner of the screen while turning on the unit and keeping the finger pressed until a message appear, that will allow you to delete all user-entered information. a message window pops up asking about "Do you really want to erase all user data?". There are 2 buttons to select, Yes or No. select "yes" to get the reset completed. Then check.----------------

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Samsung Intensity: How to avoid the voice recognition prompt

The Samsung Intensity has many nice features. It comes equipped with voice recognition software, which many people like. However, for others it is merely annoying. If you keep your phone in your pocket or purse, you might hear a muffled voice saying "Please say a command" from time to time as the phone's voice recognition button is bumped.

Fortunately, you can disable this voice prompt (if you want to) with just a few simple steps:

1. Press the voice recognition button on the upper right hand side of the phone.
2. Press the right options button to go to the Settings.
3. Select Prompts (#5).
4. Select Mode (#1).
5. Select Tones Only (the last choice).
6. Hit OK to save the change.

Now, when you accidentally bump that button, you'll just hear a short single tone, rather than the voice prompt.

If you want to reduce the volume for the voice recognition (either for the voice prompt or for the tone) that can be done easily as well. Follow the steps above to get to the Prompts menu, and select Audio playback (choice #2). Highlight the choice for Earpiece, and hit OK to save your choice.

The voice recognition function will now use the earpiece to play any sounds, rather than the speakerphone, so whether you set it for a voice prompt or a tone, the sound will be much quieter and hopefully you won't even notice it.

You can also lock the phone when you're not using it, which will disable the voice recognition button so you don't have to worry about bumping it. To lock your phone, just hold down the zero (0) key for two seconds. You'll see a message on the screen that the phone is now locked.

Is this phone capable of voice recognition calling?

Yep, just go to the App Store and search for 'melodis voice dialer'. Tap Free, then tap Install, enter your iTunes account password and it will install.

Now you'll have a program called Dialer on your home screen that you can tap to start voice dialing.

Voice is on but the unit stopped talking.

I don't know if this will help any, but when I updated my recently purchased tomtom go 720 with the newest app (8.3) and the new voices, map, etc...the voice feature completely stopped working on my unit. Everything else was working fine except the voice. However, I had installed an 8 gig sd card into my tomtom and put all the updates on the sd card because I was running low on the internal memory. Bythe way, only the voice instructions were not working..it would still play mp3's through the internal speaker, so I knew it must be a software problem. After several days with no voice instructions, I then proceeded to re-format the sd card and start all over, as the problem appeared to be a software issue. After re-formatting the sd card, I removed it and installed the back-up file from my tomtom before I did the first update. This time, I deleted a couple of the voices in the update package, so that I would have enough room to install the updates to the internal memory. "Bam" now everything is working perfectly again. I believe for me...the tomtom was having trouble communicating with the new application that I had previously installed on the sd card. I hope this may help someone.

RAZOR V3 VOICE DIALING

If you have the v3xx, it has speech recognition built in, you just press the voice dial key on the right side of the phone and say "name dial", then say the name of the address book entry you want to dial. The speech recognition matches up with your address book entries and repeats the name back to you. If you have multiple entries, it asks "which one". It's very cool and mine works very well. I was going through the same frustration you mention, looking for a way to add a "voice tag" to an address book entry like my old phone, but this is way cooler! Hope this is the fix for yours as well, good luck!
