How do I reset the chip on my ink cartridge for a epson wf 2540?

Well I just read that I need to buy special cartridges that have auto reset chips on them. Is there a way around that! Can I fool the chip or reset it to where it will work? Or do I need to buy the auto reset replacement cartridges?

Resetting an ink cartridge could not be easier in Epson Printers. There is small hole just above the circuit board which is in front of the Epson printer ink cartridge.

  • Get an object with a small point on the end, a ballpoint pen or a paperclip usually works well
  • Press the small Epson cartridge reset button just above the small circuit board.
  • You are done!

You're better off buying the auto reset replacement cartridges. Word of warning: Epson printers "SPY" on you and tell you that by putting in the compatibles, you will void their warranty. Second Warning: DO NOT download any Epson firmware upgrades because they will wipe the compatible chips and render them unusable. Always keep your old, used epson cartridges in case you need to reset the printer with the original chips.

How to Reset a My Epson Ink Cartridge Chip?

Many Epson ink cartridges come with their own installed chip. Each time the cartridge runs low on ink, the chip is tripped,
causing the cartridge to stop working in the printer. Most people think that once the chip trips in the cartridge,
it can no longer be used. But you do not need to buy a new ink cartridge right away. It is still possible to reuse the same cartridge. You just need to reset the chip and refill the cartridge with new ink.
Refill your Epson cartridge with ink by poking a hole in the label found at the top of your cartridge.
Inject a new ink into the hole's chamber using a plastic syringe. Before refilling the cartridge, tape over the outlet holes at the bottom, and tape over the new holes that you make afterward.
You will find the tape, ink, and syringe inside an Epson refill kit when can be purchased at retailers or online.
Hold the resetter and the cartridge together as you wait for the green LED light to start blinking and turn off by itself. This will take up to six seconds.
Once the light goes off, it means the cartridge chip has been reset

Resetting epson r1900 ink cartidges

Use a Cartridge Reset Tool
For some Epson printer cartridge models have no reset buttons. Instead the chip's metal contacts need to be pressed specifically at the same time. First, look for a reset tool that is compatible with your cartridge model.

1.Uninstall your empty ink cartridge.
2.Position your ink cartridge where the chip's metal contacts are displayed to the pins of the rest tool.
3.Press the reset tool to the cartridge and allow the tool's pins to press the metal contacts of the of the cartridge chip.
4.Wait for the tool's light to go green. When the green light starts to blink your cartridge chip is now resettled and ready to be reused.

Manually Reset Cartridge

·Turn off the printer and remove all cartridge
·Clean the contact copper chip using a lint free cotton cloth.
·After cleaning the contact chip, reinstall it and then restart the printer

Follow more steps to reset the Epson printer ink cartridge.

I have replaced black ink cartridge 73N message on screen says Error i press ok to proceed message goes back saying replace ink cartridge?

The main problem in using the latest Epson printers, is the ink replacements. Ink cartridges like 73N has its own ink reseter (the little chip in front of the cartridge). Once you replaced the ink without using the right procedures, for example you have a 10% remaining ink level on one of the cartridge, and you replaced it without using the setup menu and selecting the replace ink cartridge, even though the cartridge is new, the printer will read the replaced cartridge as a 10% ink level cartridge. When the remaining 10%, drops to 0%, your cartridge will read as an empty cartridge. The chip on the cartridge is registered as an empty cartridge.
-try to replace the ink reseter or try to clean the cartridge chip then put back the ink.

Epson Stylus TX400. Refuses to accept either compatable or refilled cartridges?

Epson TX400 is so sensitive in terms of ink cartridges, you can only replace a refilled ink cartridge in this type of printer if the cartridge has an automatic ink reseter chip. When you replace a cartridge in your printer, it will automatically register the ink level in the chip. So you need an ink reseter chip to replace a new refilled cartridge.

Don't know exactly where to drill a hole to refill Epsom T0711 printer ink cartridge. Can you help?

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya.
You won't need to drill hole anywhere.
Visit this link to get all the instructions required to refill the ink in Epson T0711 cartridge.
But remember you would need a chip resetter gun to re set the chips on the ink cartridges after you refill the cartridges.
Visit this link to buy Universal chip reseter if you don' t have.

Good luck and have a nice day.

Refilled the ink and it is still saying it needs

Unfortunately, you may need to buy new Epson manufactured ink cartridges. Some of the ink cartridges and/or printers have a setting that says this cartridge is empty and refilling the cartridge does not clear the empty code.

How do i go about refilling epson T5591/2/3/4/5/6

Before you can have unlimited refilling you must need this devices:

Option 1: The chip resetter which you will need to manually reset the cartridge before refilling to enable the printer to recognize a new cartridge.

Heres the link where you can buy the resetter:
http://cgi.ebay.ph/CHIP-RESETTER-For-EPSON-T5591-T077120-T078120-T0791-INK_W0QQitemZ290276640766QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Toner?hash=item4395d607fe

Option 2: You a new set of empty cartridges with autoreset chips in it. No manual resetting needed, what you need is to refill and monitor the ink level.

Explanation: When the printer detected that the cartridge is empty, the printer sends data to the cartridges and the cartridge understand what the printer says, then the cartridge automatic chip resetter will re trigger the logic circuit built in into it to reset into full ink level.

Here is the link of the autoreset chip what Im taking about:

Continuous ink supply system for epson r285. Printer will not recognise the cartridges as full. have used the reset button on the cartridge but still no luck. any ideas?

Resetting the Epson Ink Monitoring System -
Even though the CFS maintains a constant level of ink in the cartridges, the Epson monitoring system will signal that the cartridges are empty after a cartridge full of ink has been used. This ink level information is stored on the Intelligent cartridge chip. These cartridge chips have to be reset with out lifting the cartridges. This is done with Inksupply.com Auto Reset Chips. On older Epson printers, before the Intelligent cartridge, it is done mechanically by removing and re-inserting the Inksupply.com switch activators. CFS cartridges must be reset without lifting them.
Previous Reset Methods -
The resetting methods have evolved over the past couple of years. First the Swedish Reset method was used, then the Equalizer Program, then the F-16 Chip Resetter, and now the Auto Reset Chips.

Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Epsom stylus CX4700 won't print - new ink cartridges installed

They cut costs on Epson compatible cartridges by using low quality ink and chips or not resetting the chips at all. Sounds like you got cartridges that the chips were not reset on so your printer thinks all the cartridges are empty. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I would never recommend purchasing compatible Epson cartridges from anyone. I would buy refills of Epson brand cartridges and make sure the seller reset the chips.
