It may ask to restart. Let it run until it finishes. This could take several hours depending on drive size or file system errors.

well how did he go around resetting the bios, did he open the device and remove the battery becuase if he did he most likely fried ur system. since the devices have power but nothing responds. however this is not applicable if the screen shows bios setttings

try logging in safe mode first upon turning system on tap on F8 then select safe mode, once logged in safe mode to a system restore to the date before this issue happend if system restore gives an error it failes tr going back to system restore in safe mode the do a disc defragmentation click start, accessories, system tools, system restore then select restore my computer to an earlier time then select the date when everything was working fine

When you log in screen will appear that time just press CTRL+ALT+DEL three times login page will change put there administrator and press enter if any password you put during installation of xp put that password do log in and then go to user accounts which is in control panel from there change the user rights
