I haven't tried anything yet to remove the rust because i do not want to damage anything.
I am not sure how rusted it is, but it should be fairly easy to clean.
I would start with either distilled white vinegar or fresh lemon juice. You should have good results with either.
Otherwise Breville does have an 800 number or just google the model number and part name, the part should be available.

A general solution for most Jack Lalanne juicers.
Before removing the filter u must remove the steel blade , usually using a two pin tool provided; Then wiggle out the strainer basket. If u have not cleaned during ur previous use, there could be dried juice that needs softening wirh a damp cloth.
