i think you will have to do a hard reset to sort this out.
Just tap the Power button to select Reboot System Now.

1. Make sure tablet is powered off.
2. Hold down Volume + button and Power button at same time.
3. When screen comes on let go of Power button.
4. When the large Android shows on screen let go of Volume + button.
5. Use Volume - button to scroll to Wipe Data/ Factory Reset.

Try turning it off, then restart holding power and volume button down. If that doesn't work, try power and volume button down. You should get a menue.

You forgot to mention the brand & model.
Be Aware. The Password is often not accepted when actually the username is incorrect.
I use a password manager app so I have a list of all the passwords I've ever used. If I die. my wife also has access.
Passwords are here for the Foreseeable future. get used to them and use some tools to look after them.

Good luck with that. you will have to think of the password to get it to work or replace the motherboard and or the hard drive

I think the best solutions is this one. Go to your amazon account and "manage your device", then deregister it. That resets the parental password. Go to the device and click resync. When thats done go into the settings gear, my account, then register it using your amazon account info. You won't lose anything on your device.

Either find the WiFi your tablet knows about, or modify your current WiFi like the old one temporarily.
You could also set up a new temporary account and setup the new WiFi, then remove the temporary account.
Best yet; Think harder and figure out the old password.

I think I may be able to help you. So the same prob;e came with my childpad. Just remember as long as it does not work have the password with you. Because my works now but I forgot the password. So I opened the back blue thing. And then I figured that the charging thing was to loose. So, I just have to make it so that the charger won't come out, so some how my dad make it tighter.
