How to open a SonyVaio PCG-FRV37

I need to change the DC Power Jack for my Sony Vaio PCG-FRV37, but I dont find the way to open it

    Hi there.. venexcsd.
    I have to "hold" or move the AC adapter tip to gain a power connection and I saw a little black plastica that fell from DC Power Jack, since then I have had this problem.
    Do you still think that is the cable on the jack plug?

    Normally the power jack socket is not a problem but the cable on the jack plug is The wires snap just after the strain relief grommet and cause all sorts of problems It is worth putting a meter on the Jack Plug before you go in any deeper

yes if you have xp or me they will atomaticaly format for you ?when it comes up it will ask if you want to boot from cd or hard drive reboot from cd

The charger may be bad, will it charge the battery? a common problem is the DC jack in the laptop breaks connection on the motherboard internittent operation or no power and shut down. If you can sub the charger that will tell if the power supply is bad or the problem is in the laptop. If the computer is the issue I recommend a professional because it will require extensive parts removal.

Hi:
The power jacks can be bought on line for less than $10, but the fun part is the repair. The laptop must be dis assembled to get at the power jack, and when you do get to it, it takes a deft hand and soldering skills to swap one out successfully.
I have done a few and am personally only about 50% successful. There are electronics shops that swap out the power jacks for about $150, and guarrantee their work.

Hello, SONy Pcg-FRV37,Power problems
Clean the metal contacts on the Battery and in the compartment. Then, reset the BIOS to its default settings.
Next, plug in the AC Adaptor to charge the Battery.

If the issue persists then the problem may be related to the power circuitry.

Would any 16volt ac adapter be ok to charge my PCG-VX89 vaio notebook?
you can use any laptop AC adapter DC output-16V and 4A (current). if its jack size natch your laptop DC jack.
if the adapter DC current less than 4A (over 2.5A at least) you should only make the battery charging without laptop turn on!!!

Vaio will not turm on
you will most likely need to replace the dc jack, which is the port where your charger plug plugs into...

To test if your dc jack is bad... Remove the Battery, Plug the Power cord into laptop then attempt to power on... If no lights turn on, no fan spins.. your DC jack is bad...
DC Jacks Cost $6 to $10 but you need to find someone experienced to replace it, or you might end up with a dead motherboard as well..

I get all jacks for my shop through Ebay. There are several vendors that sell only dc jacks, and are unbeatable on their prices. Most jacks cost approx $6 with shipping, so browse Ebay for the jack.
