There are several reasons why your Kenmore oven model 790.7343312 may be randomly turning off. Here are some possible causes:
Power supply issues: Check if the oven is properly plugged in and if there are any issues with the power outlet or circuit breaker. Loose connections or faulty wiring can also cause power supply issues.
Temperature sensor problems: The temperature sensor is responsible for regulating the oven's temperature. If it's malfunctioning, it can cause the oven to turn off randomly. You can check the sensor with a multimeter or call a professional to diagnose and fix the problem.
Faulty control board: The control board controls the oven's various functions, and a malfunctioning one can cause the oven to turn off unexpectedly. Again, you can use a multimeter to check the control board's voltage output or seek professional help.
Overheating: Overheating can cause the oven to shut down as a safety measure. Check if the oven's ventilation system is functioning correctly, and remove any obstructions that may be blocking the airflow.
Malfunctioning oven door switch: If the oven door switch is malfunctioning, it can cause the oven to shut down randomly. Check if the switch is working correctly, and replace it if necessary.
It is very possible the control board is going bad. Before replaceing the control board pull the connectors and reinstall them. There could be a bad connection causing the display not to lioght up completly. If that doesn't work then it looks like control board time.
Just had the same problem with my Miele H383 oven clock. In my case the root cause happened before the power outage. It was a bad connection between the clock printed circuit board (pcb) and the main control pcb .I only discovered it when I couldn't reset the clock. So what appeared to be a serious fault after the power spike was fixed by simply moving some wires (gently).
The wires concerned are the small black loom which go from the back of the clock to the edge of the main board in the top of the oven. There are 16 of them into one connector that fits on the front edge of the main board.
To access this you need to remove the top cover immediately behind the oven control panel. There are only two screws which may have Torx heads but you will prob. get them out with a flat head screwdriver if you try hard enough .If your oven is mounted underneath worktop you probably won't need to take it out completely to do this but take care it doesn't tip or slide out.(remember there are up to 4 small wood screws, accessed by opening oven door, that secure oven to the housing).
The next step requires you to be aware that mains voltage is present around the main control board and the main rotary selector switch so keep your fingers out of this area.
With the power on press the two outer clock setting buttons (as per normal clock setting) and at the same time wiggle or manipulate the 16 wire loom coming from the back of the clock. Try it in all sorts of positions. I was lucky and had success after just a few attempts. I also removed the clock complete with the 16 wire loom and checked the continuity of each wire from main board edge connector to the clock pcb but I could not find a problem So there may be poor soldered joint on the clock pcb which makes and breaks as I move the loom around. Whatever, I am happy again and have saved a lot of cash!
p.s Have your vacuum cleaner to hand and clean the dust out the inside whilst you have the lid off. Good luck.
Hello there: any time you recieve the f-1 and sometimes a f-o error with the beeping this is from the electronic range controle board or erc for short and this means that that part has fgailed and needs to be replaced if you go to repair clinic.com you can look up you oven model number and get parts from there or if you have a appliance repair center in your home town give them a call and tell them the ovens model number and tell them you need a erc or electronic range controle board ok? Hope this helps Best regards Michael
This is a failure in the control board. It can be rebuilt by fixyourboard.com to save money vs. buying a new one. It is often an intermittent problem and sometimes accompanied by a random E6 F2 error when (or if) the display comes back on.
bad digital control board if tis just a clock and all the settings can be done with a knob and not the board then the replacement wont be too expensive but if that board controls eveything which i suspect it does then its going to be at least 150 more to repair than if it was just a clock display
Your error code is for a stuck keypad. You can try pressing every button at random several times each to unstick.' When the control board is changed on these ovens the keypad assembly is supposed to be changed also.
Hi, this will happen over a period of time and its just heat related. the control panel isn't insulated properly and , there has been a larger than normal transfer of heat to the inside of the control panel where the circuits are housed.
If this is a problem, i recommend replacing the control board. it will fix the dim issue.
