The touch screen of my zire 21 does not react to the stylus.

It is fully charged and the buttons toggle between the calendar and the contacts the up and down buttons also work, but nothing reacts to the stylus. Since I can't open the menu, I can't get in to other apps. J. Norton

Digitizer is out. Take it to a cell phone repair store but be prepared to pay out the nose. In essence, back it up and throw it.

My Plam Zire 21 handheld has worked fine; suddenly it will not turn on, or at least the screen remains dark. I have tried re-charging the battery, and resetting the device, but to no avail. Any other...
It is possible that the battery has lost it's skill. If you can plug it in, either by usb to a computer or through the power supply, and the screen shows it is a goner.

The link below is for the palm zire m150 if your interested in replacing the battery yourself. The zire 21 is similar to that model so it's pretty much universal.

I have Palm Zire 31 and the stylus is not responding to the touch screen so I can not Hot Sync my device since I must confirm by hitting this button. Any sugestions? I tried the hard reset and soft reset...

Zire 71 screen does not sense stylus input -- even after performing a reset.
HI,
Try doing a hard reset. This will erase everything on your zire and restore it to brand new settings. To do a hard reset make sure you have everything backup on your palm desktop. Here are the steps for the hard reset:


1. Hold down the power button and then depress the small hole in the back with the tip of your stylus2.gif.

2. Continue to hold them both in until you see the Palm2.gif logo.

3. Let go of both of them and then follow the onscreen directions. You will want to answer yes and use the 5 way navigation button on the bottom of your pda and hit up so that is completes the reset. After that you will have to set up your touch screen and go through the tapping the target. After you have gone through all this then do a hotsync. It should clear up your problem. Best wishes.

Screen does not react to the stylus when touching on found object
You could try calibrating the screen. To do this, you must go to the little DS in the center of the screen when you turn the DS on. Then touch the yellow square on the far right. It should give you instructions from that point on. Make sure that your stylus doesn't have a scratch on it! If it has a little nick down the middle, then your screen might not get a clear reading as to what you touched.

Zire won't come on
You need to follow the procedure to calibrate the digitizer.

If the screen does not respond to the stylus, then the digitizer is defective and needs to be replaced.

Zire 71 digitizer
I have the same problem and discovered that the right side of the screen had "spread". When I draw a line from the left to the right using Note Pad, the line ends up about 1/4 inch above the stylus. What I had to do is touch the stylus about 1/8th of an inch above the center of the digitizer target on the right side.
