How do I re-code our Galuxy Microwave?

It has been operating just fine. However, I was not home when my husband heated something. After that, the Power button will not depress. The microwave will not heat. All other buttons work. The microwave will come on except it will not heat.

I not know if this matches you unit, but it may help give some guidance on getting your keypad working again. Next time, please provide manufacturer and model number, which will help solve your problems faster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yWSU0kTkTg

Unit operates does not heat anything

A defective diode or magnetron can cause the oven to sound differently and not to cook.

Husband broke the tray. can i use the microwave until the replacment arrives?

yes, just don't let anything get hooked onto the part that spins. Possibly put something else in the microwave to hold whatever you are cooking above it like miniature stilts. The microwave should be fine. Benjamin

Inside of microwave hot to the touch

is it newer?

also i am wondering why you are touching the inside of your microwave ? (not being funny)

If it is something that is causing water to boil and steam when flicked/dropped on the inside you might have a concern, but you have to look at the wattage of newer microwaves as it progresses so will the heat generated inside.

i can say if you dont feel safe having it in your home then sell it or take it back but as long as it is not catching fire then i would say it is within normal operating perimeters.

Microwave oven does not heat anything

It's probably a defective magnetron.

This should have a one-year full parts and labor warranty, then another several years on the magnetron, typically 9 years.

A typical service call for this might run about $175 for the visit and repair labor, assuming the magnetron is still covered under warranty. Compare that to the cost of buying and installing a comparable oven.

Your owner's manual will tell you how long the magnetron warranty is.

You can save that home visit charge and get a diagnosis for about $25 or so by removing it from the wall and taking it to the nearest GE-authorized servicer.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

MICROWAVE WON'T HEAT OR COOK

Sorry if you misunderstand, but I offer free advice so you or someone you know can fix things yourself.

Chances are you have a bad magnetron or other high voltage part, but I won't bother you with details now.

You take care of yourself.

Microwave operates but does not heat

The High Power Transformer (Magnetron) fuse is wrong. Replace it. It will work perfect... The fuse is always hidden in a plastic case fixed at the bottom of the microwave near the big capacitor... My email: [email protected]
