SOURCE: turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.

With TV on, turn off DVR and hit menu on DVR remote - you can disable CC from there.  Worked for us - got the idea from another fixya post.

The cc has been enabled on your cable box. Usually there is a hidden menu accessed by turning off the cable box. Yes I did say turning off the cable box first. Then immediately pressing the menu button on the front of the cable box. The hidden menu should pop up and one of the menu options will be closed captioning,. Disable it.

How do i turn off subtitles i've pressed subtitle button

Hello, J -

If you have not pressed the subtitles button (closed caption / cc) again, press the Power button on the remote control to turn the TV on and press the subtitles button (closed caption / cc) again. That should stop the closed captioning.

Best wishes.

I have a 32 inch Upstar LED TV. How do I turn off closed captioning?

On the remote there is a button for Subtitles. Press that button and the Subtitles will disappear. If it is not on the remote then you have to find it in the TV's settings. 'Closed captions' are old words. We now call these 'Subtitles' and all TV's with remotes have a 'Subtitle' button. Look for it, then press while pointing the remote to the TV.

How do you remove the subtitles?

Subtitles are controlled by 'CC". Closed Captioning. Look for a CC button on the remote or captioning.
Captioning usually is in the menu as well under 'settings'.
Closed captioning has several settings. OFF turns all captioning off. CC1, CC2, CC3 & CC4 are captioning styles. Text is for text channels.

Closed Caption is turned on on DVD/VHS player, turned on through the TV. How do you turn the Closed Caption off on DVD

Closed captions only show when you're watching TV. If you're watching a DVD they're called subtitles. Both are controlled by a button on the remote. Closed captions are controlled by a button that's labeled "cc" or "ccd". Subtitles are controlled by a button that is labeled "subtitles" or "sub". Subtitles can also be turned off by going into the DVD setup menu.

Cant get the subtitles of the screen been pressing the subtitle button thanks.

Are you sure they are subtitles rather than closed captioning (if it is TV rather than DVD, it is closed captioning)?

If it is closed caption, pressing subtitle won't turn them off. If there is a button that says "Closed Caption" or "CC" press it. If not, press menu and look for the CC option (it should be under video or audio depending on the TV). Turn it off.

If you are watching a foreign language movie on TV (not DVD) it is likely hardsubbed (you can't turn the subs off because they are burned into the video).

I need to activate CC for my Dad, Please help I have to go to work. I have a flat screen SOYO

Determine if closed captioning is available on the program that you've selected. In your program guide, the letters "CC" should appear at the end of the description.
Locate the closed captioning option on your remote. Some remotes have a "CC" button that you simply need to push to activate closed captioning
Locate the closed captioning option in your television's menu if there is no "CC" button on your remote. To do this, push the "menu" button on the remote control. The closed captioning option will probably be in the same section as the language function.
Set the closed captioning option to "on." Within several seconds, you should see the text appear on your screen.
To use closed captioning for DVDs, look for the "CC" label on the lower back section of the DVD case where it lists audio information. Turn on your TV's closed captioning and you should see the captioning like you do on a television program. Alternately, some DVDs include English subtitles that you can turn on in the setup/language menu of the DVD.
Thank you.
