Br1180 utility menu does not respond cursor

Bought this recently second hand. The machine starts normally (checking... complete). Pressing "Utility" shows (details ?) of song 011 but "play" moves only the - lets say - digit numbers in the upper right corner, but no sound at all. So I tried to select another (demo)song wich was supposed to be on the hard drive, but the only thing I can do in the utility menu is to change the intensity of the LCD contrast. The cursor won't move nor to the left nor the right. So in fact no changes whatever can be made. I'd be very thankful if you can help me in any way. Thanks in advance. B.t.w. I'm Belgian

Backup sr16 to another sr16

You can send the current patches and programs along with your songs and sequences via MIDI cable from one to the other. Done it many times using a MIDI thing called SYSEX dumps.

You have to hook the MIDI OUT of the unit you want to duplicate to the MIDI IN of the new machine.

Go through the SYSTEM menu and there is a menu item for SYSEX DUMP. Select that and hit the enter and the new one will receive the dump. Both of them will be programmed identically.

Assuming you've tried rebooting the white screen one? If so, You need to take both to a qualified repair man and get the job done right. If you start swapping parts without knowing what works and what doesn't, you risk screwing up the good parts,

I have downloaded Yamaha softwear driver for my PSR 295 AND YPG 525 Keyboards to my Windows XP The files are zipped and canot access them. What do I need to do to open them . And why are they zipped in the...

You need to down load a unzip utility program to open the zip files. You could try this link: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/Compression_and_Zip_File_Utilities/PKZIP__32_bit_.html

The reason they are zipped, is that this makes the files a lot smaller. Smaller files are easilier to transfer, store and to download. The unzip utility will restore the zip files back to their normal size. Hope this helps you.

Is the Boss Dr-5 compatable with the Boss BR-1180 mini studio?

Midi doesn't actually "make sound". If your trying to record the patterns you made on the DR-5 to the recorder you need to use an audio output(I don't remember if they are RCA or 1/4" on the DR-5.) The midi output would be used to"trigger sounds" in another device that has sounds built in, or you could also trigger sounds in a program that supports midi input.
