Hi, the main board of your TV is dead This can be cause by open fuses surface mounted you have to take out the mainboard and check for any open fuses specially from the main processor IC replace if you found any.you can also order a replace board at shoppjimmy.com just follow this link

Total failure of vertical sweep occured whic your JVC TV. There are mainly two resons for this fault.Loose soldering terminals of the vertical output IC is the first one. The second one is of failure of the vertical output IC itself. You have to locate this vertical IC. It can be located at the main board. Vertical IC will be screwed on to a metal heatsink to radiate heat from it while it works. You can identify it very easly, if you have knoledge in electronic circuts abd printed circuit boards.
Resolder all the solder terminals of this IC first, by applying a little more solder; without making any solder bridge short in between the close adjecent solder terminals, and see whether it helps you. If not replace it with same type and number. OK.

ur tv has problem with vertical scanning section. may be dry soldering or vertical output ic faulty.
u can easily find out the vertical section on ur tv. for that u have to open ur tv. u can see a coil is fitted on the picture tube neck. there are four lines coming from the neck, of which two will go to horizontal scanning section and the remaining two will go to vertical section. follow the two thin wire normally in color green and yellow. it will go to a socket in the main board. trace the track from that socket in the main board . it will lead u to the vertical scanning section. check for any dry soldering in that section. mainly the soldering of vertical ic. if see or not re-solder the leads of the vertical ic . then check is the tv is ok or not. if complaint remains replace the vertical scanning out pout ic. it will be fitted on a aluminum heat sink in the vertical section. if u need more assistance feel free to contact through fixya.

replace the vertical ic or check waveform of input signal to the vertical ic from processor, if these all are OK, check the deflection yoke continuity and replace if there have problem

But in most cases the power cord is "defective" as it's a common issue.try with new cable 1st or else follow the chart and replace the part as per coding chart on main board.

If the main IC is not putting out a vertical drive signal then the vertical output will not do anything and therefore will not be damaged. What exactly do you mean by the set "literally eats deflection IC's"? What is the number on the vertical output IC? I will bet that your pump-up cap or pump-up diode is defective.
