Marie, are you talking about the Text Messenger or Facebook Messenger? If it is the Text Messenger, try going to Settings -> Notifications -> Message. Once there, check if the "Notification Sound" is shown as set to "None". If so, click there and chose the ding you want. If you're looking for a solution to the Facebook Messenger, go to Settings -> Notifications -> and scroll down until you find the Facebook Messenger icon. Click on it and check if your notification is setup correctly as: Notification: On; Sounds: On. You can also check if the "Do Not Disturb" feature is disabled - this will put your phone to just ignore any income call, text, or notifications in general.
