Hello,
Last night my Samsung plasma TV made a fairly loud popping sound while I was watching it and then the power went off. When I turned back it on, no picture but sound was o.k.
Googled the issue on line and found a video clip from ShopJimmy.com. In the video, the technician mentions that losing picture after a loud popping sound is due to the Y-main board when it goes bad. I was wondering if other boards in the TV set can cause a popping sound like that when something parts go bad.

Check the power board for any domed capacitors. Replace them. If this does not fix Replace the power board. You can check the voltages from the power board. they are labeled. VS and VA voltages are the panel voltages.
The x-sus or y-sus panel wil be the fault.Check the fuses on these panels ,if one of the fuses is open then that panel must be replaced. Not verry cheap to replace.
There is not much you can do to fix your plasma. Since the plasma is less then 1 year old, still under Samsung warranty.
I would suggest to call them to fix it.
Good luck.
