There is a disengage for when you need to spool a bobbin, it keeps the needle from going up & down, check to see if this is the problem.

I misunderstood the cleaning instructions and removed the screw holding in the hook race.

It should just slot in one way only. Try it 180 Degrees around.
If the timing between the Needle and the hook is wrong, when the needle is about to lift, set the hook to be about 3 degrees off the needle line. This position may need tweaking but is usually about right. Thread the needle and manually turn the machine. The needle should lift and the cotton should loop for the hook to pick up.

M546 brother overlocker

it's possible that when the left needle broke, it could have caused a missalignment in the machine, it would be a good idea to have the machine checked.

Needle keeps falling

the best thing would be to take the machine to a sewing machine shop & have them check to see what's wrong with the needle holder, cause if there's a something broken it will have to be replaced

My needle broke. I replaced it. Now when I lower the needle to grab the bobbin thread it is hitting something. I have taken the bobbin case out and put it back in but it still wont work. Any suggestions? ...

It sounds to me like you have replaced the broken needle with one that is too long (wrong size).Check your manual for the proper needle size and look through your collection, or head down to the local sewing shop and pick up a new pack of proper sized needles. Now if the needle you replaced the broken one with is the same size, you most likely didn't loosen the set screw up enough and therefore didn't slide the needle up far enough before locking it in. Double check this.

Good Luck!

Sewing machine problem

Not knowing what type of machine you have I just have to say there are three letters to remember... T-N-T. Thread, Needle, Tension. Since this is obviously not a tension problem you have to make sure the machine is threaded correctly. Incorrect threading will cause this as will the bobbin in upside down and turning the wrong way. Then there is the needle. Be sure it is inserted properly. My opinion is the needle is in wrong or the bobbin is turning the wrong way. Good Luck. Rick
