I have a 2002 Maytag MAV7600 washer. Problem

I have a 2002 Maytag MAV7600 washer. Problem is a intermitten type problem - those are the worst because you don't know if it will correct itself or finally totally brake.
Anyway. It does not go through all its cycles it just "Stops" and then maybe 15 minutes later it starts again or maybe not. I spin the dial and nothing. Plug is in good shape. New machine or fix it and approx cost.

The washing machine started making a grinding noise during wash cycle (minor) and a much louder grinding noise during the spin cycle. Is this a bearing? and is it replacable? Maytag MAV7600

sounds like a bearing... although it could be the water pump... water pump is an easy fix... bearing is not an easy fix... take the belt off the bottom of the pump (under the machine) and see if it spins freely by turning it w/ your hand... or if it seems really stiff... if it looks good then it's def. your bearing...

Maytag MAV7600 - loud noise on spin cycle

It's more likely something caught in the pump or bad pump. Remove the belt under the machine and check the pump pulley for noise.
