Possibly a stone/screw, etc caught in the valve lock assembly above the lower duct pipe leading from the brush head. Have had that cause the described problem.

There may be a problem with the tilt mechanism or the mechanism which triggers the rollers to start.
The other thing that seems to happen is you must watch that the small button on the middle of the handle ( roller pic on it ) is not pushed down as this is used to stop the rollers.
If it is pressed down , Switch it off fully , Press the button so both are up , reswitch on again then the unit will need to be placed upright first before reactivating the rollers.
If in doubt contact the Customer service department as DYSON are excellent and they have a 5 year parts warranty.

Vacuum works quietly and well when using the wand attachment, as soon as it is lowered into 'floor vacuuming' position it makes a very loud noise but doesn't seem to lose suction.

Hi Ismaias, it's Jack at Dyson.

The issue you're describing sounds unusual. If you think the noise coming from the cleaner head and brush bar is excessively loud, you might like to follow the steps shown in the video below to make sure nothing is jamming or obstructing the brush bar:

If you're confident there are no obstructions, but your machine is still sounding much louder than it should be, please do not continue to use your machine. At this point, it would be best to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly so we can provide further assistance. If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty.

When you have your DC50 to hand, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

HOw do I get the brush roller to operate on my NV400

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

To make your Shark Rotator Professional Upright Vacuum's roller brush to run properly, make sure the nozzle or floor base is flat against the floor and the unit's handle is tilted back and engage the brushroll setting. If your unit's red light is illuminated on the floor power nozzle, your unit has a blockage and will not allow the roller brush to run efficiently. Check your unit for blockages, hair strands or debris tangled in the roller brush and/or dirty filters, these may all cause a blockage and loss of suction in your unit.

Last, make sure the canister is properly installed and engaged, making sure it is correctly making an electrical connection with the floor nozzle.

The brushes do not disengage when in upright position

Set the brush control, as needed. The brush control turns the brushbar on the underside of the vacuum on and off. The button is located beside the power button, on the top-front of the vacuum cleaner. Turn on the brush control for cleaning carpet. Turn off the brush control for bare floors or delicatelb_icon1.png rugs..

My Dyson absolute vaccume has no suction. I have cleaned the filters, visually checked all of the hoses. there is no suction from the floor brush or the wand.

Check the ducting that goes from the floor pick-up into the machine, fluff etc often clogs the elbow. Check the pipe that plugs into the floor pick-up as well, it could be clogged further up.

No suction on dyson dc07

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

If the dust cup is too full, there is no space for the dirt to go when you are vacuuming. To fix this, remove the dust cup and empty the it. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt after emptying the dust cup, there may be something blocking the airway. There are two places where you can check for a blockage: the dust cup air duct and the intake opening behind the brush roll. To check for a blockage in the dust cup air duct stand the vacuum upright and remove the dust cup. Now you can disconnect the super stretch hose and check for clogs in the air duct behind the dust cup. If that is not the case, to check for a clog near the roller brush lay the vacuum down. Next check the opening behind the brush roll for clogs. If there is debris, clean the opening with scissors, carefully cutting away any debris.
Uncleaned filters may also the reason why your vacuum has lost suction. To clean the foam and felt filters, remove the dust cup and pull out the two filters that are on the top of the motor base. Rinse the filters with lukewarm water until the water is running clear. Let the filters dry fully before putting them back into the vacuum. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt, you may need to replace it.
Unfortunately, if none of the other solutions worked, your motor is going bad. Most of the time a new motor costs as much as the vacuum itself and it is not easy to replace the motor. It may be time for a new vacuum.

Low suction

Check the tube that leads down to the brush head for clogging as well as any motor or HEPA filters. If that still shows nothing, take the cover off the brush head (like you're changing the belt) and look for obstructions in there. Usually, if you have low suction on the accessory hose, the problem is with a motor filter, HEPA filter, or a clog where the hose goes into the unit. If you have good suction on the accessory hose but none on the floor, it's usually in the brush head (clog or broken belt) Good luck

Troubleshoot floormate spinscrub 800 floor cleaner

The brushes are not designed to scub the floor, they only lightly touch the floor. Make sure the front nozzle is put on correcdtly. Make sure your filter is dry and clean. I wet filter will give poor suction down to the nozzel. Down load the manuel at Hoover.com. The model is located on the back of the unit. H3000, or H3010

I have a Sebo X4 vacuum cleaner which has lost suction and is displaying the red bag clogged light. There is no apparent blockage in the pipework from brush to bag Any clues as to reasons/solutions?

There could be a few reasons:
Check that the main filters are completely clean - open the door to see if there is any dirt on the main slide out roll filter and also the main exhaust filter on top of the hood of the X4 (by pushing the handle all the way down to the floor as if the X4 is flat floor cleaning) The exhaust filter has to be replaced if its completely black in colour and can't be washed.
Failing that, check the main inspection blockage door on the underside of the floor head. Inspect it with a torch - even though it may feel like there is nothing there by putting your fingers into the trapdoor, debris like stiff cardboard can often block the main dust channel entrance from the brush to the main hose. Also take off the hose and extend it fully to see if anything is clogged.
