Fuses do not have voltage ratings they are a current device. the 15 V does not make sense. It might be 15 A which is the current rating. A standing for Ampere which is the maximum current named after the discoverer of current creating magnetic fields being Andr?-Marie Amp?re in 1826. The 120v or 240v relates to the transformer design in the microwave. The transformer would be design to run on 240V AC 50 HZ AC like in Oz and UK or 120V 60 Hhz AC like used in the USA out of the power point from the power company.
Also the current relates to the voltage. So voltage divided by circuit resistance equals current.denoted by the formula I = V/R

My microwave runs and sonds normal but doesnt heat anyhing

First: Check the high voltage fuse (this fuse connects between the
high voltage capacitor to one pin of the magnetron( careful this capacitor must be discharged)), replace fuse if it blown.
Second: If this fuse blown again, the magnetron must be replaced
(shorted).
Note: These answers only apply when the microwave are working with normal sound but NO heat, If strange sound occurred that means could be something else faulty!
Good luck

GE microwave oven model#JVM1441BH04 when you close door on switch activates and oven comes on. Only goes off when door is opened.

HELLO.

the problem your are experiencing with your microwave oven is a failed interlock switch.
Be careful when closing your microwave door. Slamming the door too hard is one of the main reasons that the interlock switch is damaged.

Slamming the microwave door shut can easily blow the microwave fuse, but they can also blow due to problems with the interlock switches.
A microwave oven will not function until the fuse is replaced.

Instruction on how to replace fuse on microwave.

1. Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet to prevent electrocution. Place the microwave in a well-lit area to be able to locate the fuse.

2. Use a screwdriver to remove the outer cabinet of the microwave, and follow the power cord to the fuse. The fuse is located 2 to 3 inches within the microwave and is attached to the power board.

3. Observe the fuse to determine if it is blown. Blown glass fuses will produce burn marks on nearby surfaces, or the internal fuse wire will be black and melted, while ceramic fuses show no outward appearance of being blown.

4. Determine if a ceramic fuse is blown by testing it with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter reads zero ohms, your fuse is not blown. Other readings on the ohmmeter show that your fuse is blown.

5. Replace the blown fuse by popping it out of its holder, and snapping a new fuse in its place. Tighten the fuse clips by squeezing them together with your fingers.

6. Replace the outer cabinet of the microwave, and plug the microwave back into the electrical outlet. Test the microwave to see if it's working properly.

thanks.

I have samsung microwave model MW830WA 120V 60HZ 800W IT IS DATED 2001. The fuse has been blown off last week. I want to know where the location of the fuse and what fuse to buy. Thank you, Phil

I know on my samsung it's right on top when you take off the outer cover. I also have an emerson and it's on the right side behind the control panel There is a white plastic cover over the fuse that just snaps apart.. I buy my fuses at radio shack. I know mine takes a 20 amp 250 volt.

GE Profile Spacemaker XL1800 The microwave runs, the lights come on, timers goes, but it does not heat/cook and it makes a loud buzzing sound. What is wrong with it,and can I repair or trouble shoot it?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If it’s a loud hum/buzz sound then 90% it’s usually a bad magnetron and other times it’s a bad high voltage diode. However, from what you have described it seems to be the magnetron. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Can't find the power loss in microwave after fuse, switch check.

Sounds more like the transformer could be bad. Very easy to check. See my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4318968-check_high_voltage_transformer_in . Let me know if you need more help.

My spacemaker stopped working and no panel lights. It's not the circuit breaker. Any ideas? model JVM140001

Could be the fuse inside the microwave is blown. You will need to unplug the microwave and remove the front control panel. Inisde the microwave housing you will need to trace the electrical wire coming into the unit. Usually you will find the in-line fuse located on the black power wire. You can pull the connectors off the fuse and test it with a continuity tester. If the fuse is blown replace it but make sure you use the same amp rated fuse as you removed. If the fuse blows again then there is an electrical short somewhere in the microwave.

Microwave was working fine but just stopped this morning. Is there a way that I can replace the high voltage fuse? Is it located in the panel inside the microwave?

You have not mentioned the make and model. Any way you can check the AC fuse on the power board inside the oven. If it is blown off you can replace it by a similar one, around 10amps fuse.

Microwave fuses

Just replace the fuse Brother. No harm done. BUT, keep it away from your wife. Maybe she's thinking doubling the voltage would make it twice as fast. NOPE!!!
