I am trying to print a photo on an HP Photosmart C4480. I want it in Landscape and an 8x10 I have a 1 1/2 inch gap on the right side. How do I align this printer and not just the cartridges?

It is for sure a matter of settings ..so you have to select the paper type ..and the dimensions ..and also the position ...landscape or portrait ...and after that go for the print..Also select the paper type and size in the printer if it has the feature for it ...It is safer to select there too ..cause from computer you have to make it each time and you may miss something ..
If it is still making problems ..just reinstall the printer 's driver and software from scratch ./..(remove the old one ..and reinstall a clean version of the software ) This way you will be sure it is not an software error..

You need to get a driver update for whatever program your printer is being for...that includes the operating system and the printer

start - print and fax - right click on HP Photosmart C4480 - properties - port (change to USB)..

I could not solve the problem and had to call in an engineer who found other underlying problems with the computer itself and is fixing it for me.

To align the print cartridges from the HP Photosmart Software
1. Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
NOTE: If you have colored paper loaded in the input tray when you align the print
cartridges, the alignment will fail. Load unused plain white paper into the input
tray, and then try the alignment again.
2. In the HP Solution Center, click Settings.
3. In the Print Settings area, click Printer Toolbox.
NOTE: You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog
box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Features tab, and then click
Printer Services.
NOTE: You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog
box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Features tab, and then click the
Printer Services button.
The Printer Toolbox appears.
4. Click the Device Services tab.
5. Click Align the Print Cartridges.
When prompted, ensure plain white letter or A4 paper is loaded in the input tray, then
press the button next to OK.
NOTE: If you have colored paper loaded in the input tray when you align the print
cartridges, the alignment will fail. Load unused plain white paper into the input
tray, and then try the alignment again.
The product prints a print cartridge alignment sheet.
7. Load the page print side down on the right front corner of the glass, and then press
the button next to OK to scan the page.
When the On button stops flashing, the alignment is complete and the page can be
removed. Recycle or discard the page.

you shoud test printhead,if they are ok, you choose "best photo" in printer property.

Most pix you shoot are not exactly 4x6 which will leave white edges top and bottom- Sides Try using the HP software- see if any difference Inkypete

I can not scan from my printer to my pc. I have a hp c4480. everything works on it. bill
