Fm radio static solutions

There may be interferences from electrical appliances fridges, TV. Move the radio to some other place. For AM rotate the radio to get the best signal. For FM and SW deploy the telescopic antenna. For SW you may use an external antenna. For SW, to tune in on a station you need to know the broadcast time and the frequency.

The power cord is the antenna. Try to position it as close to horizontal as possible.

• Extend the power cord as much as possible. The FM antenna is in the power cord.

• Move the power cord to adjust the FM antenna

• If you still have problems with FM reception, you may need an external antenna.

The external antenna on your radio is a coax (round) design It needs an adaptor and an antenna which are cheap.

Easy to make, radio shack "F" connector 90 degrees or straight, to 300 ohm wire connections. Attatch a 300 ohm flat ribbon antenna cable to those two screws and plug into radio and see how your reception is. You will need to position the antenna wires to get best reception. I have hid them in back of paintings and so on.

Cheapest solution next to putting an extension cord on radio power cord.

First, you have to find out if the intereference is coming from your power supply or your FM radio. Are you listening to the Stiletto2 on your car FM radio? Is you car FM antenna visible? First try using a different FM frequency - that is the most simple fix. Second, if you car radio has an "AUX" input jack, use that to eliminate static. If the interference is from the car ignition, that is most difficult to eliminate, but you can try a clip-on ferrite ring on your power cord.
In summary, try a different FM frequency, 2nd, try using an AUX input cable, and if you've done either of those, then the noise may be in the power. Make sure to turn the AUDIO OUPUT level of the Stiletto2 all the way up so that your car radio won't have to be up so loud. Go luck, and let me know if this works for you. Happy New Year too!

First of all check for any nearby source of interference.....Move your unit away from all computers, fluorescent lights, neon lights, microwaves, cell phones, and cell phone chargers. These devises tend to produce noise in the medium frequency band, where AM radio is broadcast.
If the unit plugs into the wall with a nonpolarized plug (where both prongs are the same size), try reversing the plug in the outlet. Moving the plug to another outlet might help, too.
check for fault in the antenna lead, (common) or bad earth on the antenna to body
If you don't have an antenna connected to your FM receiver,With a receiver or tuner, connect a wire-loop or T-shaped dipole FM antenna to the back of your unit. Move the antenna until you get the cleanest signal. Use a signal-strength meter or display to gauge signal strength if your unit has one.

Step 2 If you're still not getting a good signal, try an indoor amplified antenna, which you'll find at an electronics store. Don't buy one unless you get a guarantee that you can return it for full credit if it doesn't solve your reception problems.

Step 3 If your signal is weak because you live a long way from the transmitter, install an outside antenna and mount it as high as is practical. If you're primarily interested in getting signals from one station or from a group of stations in one direction, get a directional antenna and point it toward the transmitters.

Step 4 If you're using a portable FM radio where the only antenna is the power cord, stretch the cord as straight as possible and experiment with positioning again.

Step 5 Temporarily switch to monaural mode to improve a weak signal on an FM receiver.

If you're using a portable FM radio where the only antenna is the power cord, stretch the cord as straight as possible and experiment with positioning again.

Possible that you have a EMI interferance in your circuit or power which carries into the set..Use the set in the battery mode and swtich off all the mains in your house. if this solves, then check on by one the connected appliances which might produce this static. You could also take the set to another location to see if this reduces off . in this case you will have to check if there is a lurking interferance from the power source. I suppose you might not get this faultt with the FM but MW and SW is bound to pick up the static unless the signal is powerful. Please also try to check your external cords, if possible change the location of the antennae. Further any fault on the radio IFT/filters could be considered. Hope my advice helps you . Good day

The electrical cord acts as an antennae for this radio. Uncoiling the cord will give the best reception for FM. Rotating the radio (and built in ferrite bar antennae) will give the best reception for AM listening.

check antenna cable connections at radio & antenna.suspect power antenna if equipped.

The tuner section may have been toasted by the power surge that affected your home. See if there is another option for an antenna connection and try that. If not, then it does not appear you have much choice.

The adapter slips into your vehicle radio as easily as a cassette tape and provides better performance than a wireless connection.


Solution 3 - FM Extender Cable Kit: An FM extender cable will provide a special transmitter antenna that allows you to obtain the best audio performance through your vehicle’s FM radio. This solution is easy to self-install, but does require that an easy-to-hide wire be run in your vehicle so the transmitter antenna can be placed in close proximity to your vehicle’s radio antenna. FM Transmitter Set-Up Tips
To tune your FM transmitter turn off your SIRIUS radio and tune through the FM channels on your vehicle’s radio to locate an FM channel (except 87.7/87.9) that is not broadcasting in your area. If you use an FM channel that is being used by a local broadcaster, it will interfere with the performance of your SIRIUS radio. Once you have located an FM channel that is not being used for broadcasting in your area, save it as a preset on your vehicle radio. This will become your SIRIUS preset. If you’re not sure which FM channels are not being used in your home or travel cities, you can go to www.sirius.com/fmchannel and search for an FM channel based on zip code.
Turn on your SIRIUS radio. In the SETTINGS or MENU on your SIRIUS radio, locate the “FM Frequency” adjustments. Set the channel number on your SIRIUS radio to match the SIRIUS preset on your vehicle radio. Refer to your user guide for detailed instructions on how to do this. The FM transmitter in your SIRIUS radio is automatically set to FM channel 88.1. This may not be the best channel in your area.
