I was able to fix this, believe it or not our roof was being repaired and the roofer covered up the roof top compressor (heat pump) with a tarp which must have caused the compressor motor to overheat with no air circulation??? and the roof top switch/braker tripped, when i removed the tarp and flipped the switch next to the compressor every thing worked fine again.....who knew!

It is either the element, sequencer (or contactor/relay), or power to the switching element. 5KW Elements normally Ohm out @ around 10 Ohms when they are good. Everything you need to check requires a multimeter.

Furnace fan will not stop running till you pull out fuse

Most likely the fan relay is defective or the electric heater is defective. If the fan will not turn off, the cause is generally the electric heat is being back feed from a defective heat strip., Recommend call pro. If so inclined, remove power, breaker etc find 1/4or 5/16 driver and Remove panel from the ah. Look for the fan and follow the wires back to the relay( this is usually black, for high speed, blue for.med and red for low ) Follow the fan speed tap to the relay. If the relay is burnt or looks defective replace this part. If no defect is obvious remove the wire from the NC (normally closed) connection. Plug the power and check to see if the fan starts with out command. If the fan starts it definitely the relay. Note the wire removed from NC might be hot check with meter if it is and the electric heat is signalling the fan to run and most likely source of defect is the heat sequencers, (switch relays for high voltages) replace this part

We have a Honeywell RTH230B programmable thermostat installed on a rudd a/c system. Everything works fine except the a/c unit cycles on and off about every 5 minutes.

Probably cycling on low or high pressure switch. You may be low on refrigerant, dirty filter or indoor coil, causing low pressure switch to open or the outdoor coil is dirty or outdoor fan not running at the proper speed causing the high pressure switch to open.

My unit was working fine until 3 days ago when the breaker tripped, I reset the breaker and worked fine for a day then tripped again when it tripped both the ac breaker andthe main in the trailer as well...

High amp draw can be caused by a few different things, so first check that incoming voltage to trailer is sufficient. (115 volts) Not unusual for some parks to install more hydro hook-ups on a feed line, and when all are up and running, your incoming voltage could be decreased. If your o.k. that way, then I'd start looking at the compressor circuit of your ac, in particular, the compressor start-up capacitor. The capacitor basically stores electricity and boosts it to higher voltage for compressor and fan start-ups to reduce current draw that will trip the breaker. Please have a knowledgeable electrician, or RV tech check this for you, as a capacitor can give a real good high voltage (possible fatal) shock, even when power is off to unit. I also suspect that the start relay has shorted (welded) itself due to high amp draw situation, and that is reason it comes on by itself.

Rudd Achiever series model RQNJ-AO42JK 000 mfg

Turn the thermostat as low as it will go and have someone stand out side, they should here the condensor fan and compressor come on at the same time. They are two distinctive sounds so you should
be able to tell if the compressor is running.

If nothing happens and you are skilled with electrical
you can turn power off and remove the electrical
cover to the outside unit. Restore power and carefully
push in the contactor, if the fan and compressor
starts you have a thermostat or low voltage problem.

If just the outdoor fan runs on any attempt, more than likely you need a new capacitor.

Heater and fan tured off after being on high for

Is this is a 115 volt heater plugged into an outlet? Check the outlet with a working lamp. If it doesn't work either, check the appropriate breaker in the house electrical panel--push off, then on. Check the breaker rating against the heater rating. The breaker should be rated around 20% greater. If this a 230 volt wired-in heater, check the appropriate twin breakers as above. If the above doesn't solve the problem, then remove the heater cover (after removing power) and look for an open thermal overload switch.

Heater Control Switch Only Works on High

It appears there is a resistor block there, either at blower connection area, or at firewall area on passenger side under cowl somewhere. It is quite common for blower to only work on high when resistor goes. Look for block, or base, 1-1/2" x 3" approx. with electrical connector to it.
