You need fuel, spark and air...Fuel supply turned on? Air cleaner not blocked (mouse nests!)?
I've seen corroded spark plug wire caps that don't conduct electricity. Pull the plug wire off, and check if it's shiny on the inside or corroded....if not shiny, clean it with a piece of emery cloth or use some fine grit sandpaper to make it shiny again.
If this unit was tipped over and you found oil in the air filter, there is a chance the oil entered the top of the piston as well. Never lean a engine over. If you have to make sure the spark plug is facing up, that way the oil stays in the cranckcase. If the plug has oil on it then the oil has entered in. Do not use ether. This will do nothing but damage your piston and rings. If you do not have any oil on the plug, are you getting any fuel on the plug? If it is dry it sounds like you have a jet stopped up in the carburator which is not letting fuel to go through. Or it could be the needle on the float is stuck. If so, turn the fuel off, drop the bowl and inspect for these problems. This is a common problem with small engines that are not used very much. They sit up and the old fuel causes the problems. If it is old fuel, drain it out and add fresh fuel before trying to restart. But get that carburator checked and it may need a good cleaning. Good luck.
hi, the cylinders are dry of petrol fumes and you need a (good battery), if all the mehanical parts (working fuel pump and clean fuel filter) o.k. and the spark plugs are clean and the (spark plug timming leads) are correct and points are set and the (ignition coil) is o.k. this engine should start. (if not) take off the air filter and check it is clean, leve the air filter off and put a very small amount (egg cup full) of clean petrol into port the carberreter (it will not start straight away because the plugs may be wet) or wrong (timming leads) if it splutters problebly not enough petrol or ignition faults (electrical points contacts dirty) all cars need metered fuel and air to run. wish you luck gerry
check gas tank with light is there dirt in tank? did you change fuel filter? is there spark at the spark plug? try a 2 second spurt of starting fluid in carburetor and crank does it fire?if it does then you most likely need to clean carburetor with carburetor cleaning spray, flush fuel lines with spray and swap fuel filter.
Possible CausesCorrective actions Unit will not start
Control handle is not engaged
Engage control handle
Spark plug wire is disconnected
Connect spark plug wire
Fuel tank empty or stale fuel
Replace with clean, fresh gas
Blocked fuel line
Clean fuel line
Faulty spark plug
Replace, clean, or adjust gap
Engine flooded
Wait to restart, do not prime
Air filter filled with dirt or debris
Replace or clean air filter
Do you checked the petrol filter? It can be simple as that. check the MAF, the spark plugs and cabling, air filter, petrol pump. I had the same problem with mine (same year, same model), I cleaned all the air intake system, fuel line, and now it's perfect (even needing to change petrol filter, i didn't changed it yet). Careful cleaning the MAF, if you don't know how to do it don't do it, ask an expert near you. If you can't solve the problem this way, search for air or fuel leaks.
I solved mine cleaning the fuel line and the air intake system.
Hi, first you'll have to change the air filter and the spark plug. now, go buy some hi octane gas. drain the old gas and put the fresh gas in. if this don't solve your problem please write again.
