1: Get a movie and some popcorn.
2: Make sure the DVD player and the tv are turned on.
3: Push the button on either the front of the player or on the remote to open the player door to load the disc.
4. Put the disc on the tray that pops out

I am trying to playback videos on my JVC Everio Camcorder using the colored AV cords. I hear the audio coming through my TV but there is no video/picture. I have tried adjusting the settings and tried...

First, set [SWITCH TO ANALOG I/O] to [OUTPUT]
then turn off the (camcorder) unit.

After you connect the cable (from AV connector to the TV's AV Input Connector (accepting the 3 color cables), set the TV to VIDEO mode, selecting the AV input (from your Camcorder).
Then start your playback on the camcorder ...
slide the mode switch to select the (video) mode (instead of the picture/photo mode)... press the PLAY/REC to select the playback mode, and select the desired files/frames to play.

Hope this works for you. Have you tried using the HDMI mini connector instead ? (same process, just set your TV to accept input from the HDMI input)

Xbox Controller to USB Conversion

Did you know the Xbox controller has a USB interface built-in? How would you feel about playing your favorite PC games, with an Xbox controller?

Here is what you will need to get the job done:
  • Xbox Game Controller
  • Male USB Connector
  • Wire Strippers
  • Electrical Tape

1. Using a Male-Female USB extension cable, cut off the male USB adapter, along with a foot or more of cable.
cb02cce.jpg

2. You will need to cut off the connector on the Xbox cable, too.
d01133b.jpg

3. Cut the Xbox connector off right at the base, leaving you some room to splice on the USB Male connector.

4. Now strip off about an inch of casing from the end of each exposed cable that we’ll be connecting. There will be a lot of thin silver wires and foil wrapped around a few smaller, colored wires. The silver casing is the shielding, just trim it back enough to expose the colored wires.

5. Using your wire strippers, pull away the casing on each of the colored wires to expose the bare wire.

6. Splice together each wire of the USB adapter to its matching colored wire on the Xbox controller. The Xbox controller has an additional yellow wire, which you can ignore. Use electrical tape to cover up the bare leads, or heat shrink tubing.

7. You should now be able to set up the device and start using it. The first thing to do is to download the XBCD drivers (download here), and run the installer file.

8. Once the drivers are installed, plug in the controller and it should detect and install the drivers for “XBCD XBox Gamepad”. Now go to Programs -> XBCD -> Setup Utility and set up your new gamepad!

I have a hitachi 50c20 tv and it has a red tint/hue across the whole screen

Are you using component cables into the TV? It sounds like one of the 3 video cables may have come out saturating the red colors. Check your cabling int he back of the TV, see if you remove 1 by one if that changes the colors. Each cable on its own should have a picture with either red green or blue colors. If any of them are missing the picture then the colors will get messed up when all 3 are plugged in. If you are not using component cables then check the color settings on your TV. Somewhere int he menu of the television you should have something like picture display settings that let you adjust the colors. Check and make sure that the reds are not over configured or the others are not set too low. You may also want to check that your source is proper as well. Check that other sources look okay or if it is with all different connectors/sources that the issue occurs on.

Connections to the hard drive

The Harddrive is a SATA unit.

Uses a SATA data cable, and a SATA power cable.

SATA data cable, and connector on motherboard, example;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SATA_ports.jpg

Between the SATA data cable connector, and the SATA power cable connector; the SATA data cable connector is the shorter of the two in width.
SATA data cable connector has 7-pins.
SATA power cable connector has 15-pins.

The connector end used on the harddrive side, and optical drive side, (CD/DVD drive), is usually a 90 degree Bent Elbow.
The connector end that plugs into the motherboard, is a Straight connector.

NOTE* Color of connectors does NOT matter.
Most of the time the SATA data connectors on the motherboard, are different colors.

This is to help discern what number of SATA data connector it is.
Four SATA data connectors on the motherboard?

SATA 1, SATA 2, SATA 3, and SATA 4;
Or:
SATA 0, SATA 1, SATA 2, and SATA 3?

SATA 0, or SATA 1, is usually reserved for the Harddrive.
The Primary harddrive with the Operating System on it.
(Unless you have harddrives set in a RAID configuration)

DOES NOT MATTER WHAT SATA DATA CONNECTOR, you plug into, on the motherboard.

Want to plug the harddrive into SATA 3, or SATA 4?
Go ahead.
NO matter what SATA connector on the motherboard that you plug into, BIOS will find the harddrive.

Note the L-shape in the connector.
Has to line up on the L-shape on the harddrive, optical drive, or motherboard, SATA data connector.

There is usually a lock on the connector. This you may not see.
Sometimes there is a little 'bump' on the connector. Depress with the thumbnail to install the cable, or remove.

This is an example of a SATA power cable,

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#sata

NOTE*
IF, your SATA harddrive has a provision for plugging in a SATA power cable, AND a 4-pin Peripheral power cable; ONLY plug the SATA power cable in.

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#peripheral

Using BOTH types of power cables will BURN the harddrive up.
May not happen right away, but I assure you it will happen.

I baught this tv 3 years ago and today for no reason there was a constant buzzing sound over the sound itself. I have checked all the cables and they are in fine and I have retuned and set the tv back to...

I am curious, do you have a cable box attached to this tv and do you use channel 3 to play the set ? If so your cable box voulme setting is set on variable, and you cable box volume setting is way to low. If this is a HD TV and box use the Component cables or an HDMI cable to connect. Makes a world of difference. Hope this helps. PS if colors look bad when using 5 wire componenet cable, be certain not to have mxed your audio red connector with the video red connector.

Need help setting up

I can help you set it up, however I need to know some more specific information.

i.e. what Brand & Model of receiver? I also need to know what other equipment you are hooking up, i.e. the TV's Brand & Model #, Cable boxes brand & model # etc.

Also I need a list of the cable you have. i.e.

Component Cables: These are typically a group of 3 or 5 wires. the 3 wire set will be colored Green, Blue & Red, where as the 5 wire set will also have a 2nd Red and a White.

Composite Cables: These are either a 2 or 3 wire set where there is a Red & White wire, and the 3rd if there is one would be yellow.

HDMI: These are a single cable with a wide flat connector on the end.

Digital Coax: This looks like the Component or Composite cable however it is a single cable and the color is Orange.

S-Video: This is a single Cable with a round end that has a number of small pins in the connector.

If you can provide me with the above info that I can help you further.

Just connect the set of 3 round colored connectors on the back of the tv (Red, White and Yellow) with the same colored connectors from the back of the player - use a same colored 3-wire cable.
