Um, do you have a rundll 32 error? or do you want to know how to partition a hard disk without formatting? The old Partition Magic software was always my favorite for partitioning (re-sizing, etc.) without formatting. Sometimes you just gotta format though. ...tell more...

Hi,
whenever you repartition a drive all the data is lost in those partitions

a quick way to get rid of rundll32 error is to do a system restore using safe mode, which will restore your system configuration to a date when your system was working fine without rundll32 error, it is possible if you remember the date on which your system was working fine

when the system starts at the blue dell logo start tapping the F8 key and when it gives you the option to use safe mode select it and then

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.

here it will show you in bold the dates to which you can restore your system back to, select the date and continue, but restoring a system back in date will make you loose any new settings done to the system or any new software installed to the system.

If you think the above info was helpfull please do rate me

Regards
Ltoso

My hard disk is 80gb but it shows in my computer only 32gb

Hello!

Maybe your Hardisk is partitioned. Go to control panel> Administrative Tools> Computer Management> Disk Management.

It will display the size of partitioned drive.

Hi, I have an iomega Prestige 2tb desktop hard drive which i was using on a PC but now want to use it for my macbook pro. How do i reformat the hard drive for Mac? Thankyou

Connect it to your Mac and open Disk Utility. Find the disk in the left pane of the Disk Utility window, click on it, then click the Erase tab in the right pane. Choose your format, then click the Erase button. If the disk does not appear in the left pane or is grayed out, click the Erase or Partition tab first, then select the disk.

Note: the "MS-DOS" format is the FAT-32 filing system. You will have to partition the volume (Partition tab) to use it since FAT-32 cannot cover the entire drive in one partition (I think it is limited to 80 GB). Microsoft won't let Apple use an NTFS volume for Write operations, but FAT-32 can be read and written by both Mac and Windows systems. If you think you may want to use the drive to share files with the PC, make two partitions - one formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and a smaller one formatted as FAT-32.

I have Lacie Rikiki Go 500GB, when the first format I set it with Mac user. Now I want to use for both Mac/Window. Pls advise. Thanks

Hello,
the easiest way to allow you to share data from the same partition between MAC and PC is to format your drive as MS-DOS (FAT 32) with Disk Utility, but you will be limited to files of 4GB or smaller.
Another way to do it is to format your drive as NTFS with Windows disk manager and to install an add on on your MAC that allows you to write to NTFS partitions (without add on, you will only be able to read NTFS partitions)

How do I format my new Seagate 500GB FreeAgent GoFlex Hard Drive to Fat32 for use with Xbox 360? I am using Windows 7 and when I open up the formatting options only NTFS and exFAT are available.

Windows Disk Management can only format a hard drive less than 32 GB to FAT32. If you want to format your 500GB drive to Fat 32, you need to use third party program like AOMEI Partition Assistant. http://www.disk-partition.com/free-partition-manager.html

How do i format to fat32 using windows 7

Windows 7 will format an external partition to FAT32, as long as it's 32GB or less. "Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Options". Right click on "Computer Management", select "Run as an Administrator", double-click on "Storage" then "Disk Management", the right click on your external drive. Select "Shrink Volume", shrink it by 32GB or less, then right click on unallocated space, select format, and "FAT32" will show up as an option during the format wizard.

This is a way to create a small bit of space on an external hard drive for copying some files from Mac OS's to Windows.

Hello Sir,

You can create a Partition in your hard drive without affecting your OS. Just follow the process I've sent.

1.) Go to Start Menu and Type in search area Create and Format Hard Disk Partition.

2.)Open the Create and Format Hard Disk Partition.

3.)Now you can Select the C: and can Partition it with another new drive.

Thank You

My Maxtor Athena 20GB hard disk is in error

delete the entire partition and do a quick format....
then do partition according to your requirement and try formatting...
if it still says error, then use any disk formatting utility like partition magic and try one more time....
still problem then you should take it back for replacement if it comes under warranty period....

I can not install Windows on my Compaq Evo N620c

The quickest solution here would be to put the hard drive into a computer that has Windows already running, and format it through the operating system itself. I've run into this problem a few times, and when another computer wasn't available I would use a Linux boot disk to clear out all my partition tables, then I would load up with Windows XP and tell it to write a new NTFS partition. Do NOT select the 'quick format' option, you'll have to wait through the long one.

Hard disk failure

Hi, assuming the hdd won't finish a format, it is possible that some sectors are damaged. If you still want to try and use the hdd even with these defects, you can try and partition the hdd. Guesstimate at what point the hdd stops responding and really guess where the defects end. With this info, partition the hdd into 3 with the middle containing the defective sectors. Format only the first and third partitions. For simplicity, Win98 might be easier to work with rather than XP. Hope this be of some help. Do post again and let us know how things turn up.
