This still sounds like a driver issue. Make sure you have the 8.1 drivers from hp. Here is the link.

HP Deskjet F4200 Series All-in-One Printers Protection Fault Problem

A lot of HP Deskjet F4200 Series All-in-One printer users complain about the installation problem experienced with this product, especially those using the Windows XP operating system. The driver installs perfectly; it performs the alignment and prints the test page. But as soon as you print a document, photo, or anything from the computer, the printer fails and says "The program has encountered a problem and needs to close". When you go to the printer properties, you'll get a message: Function address 0x500a0490 caused a protection fault. (Exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property page(s) may not be displayed.

The problem can be resolved by completely uninstalling the driver and installing it again. When the installation is complete, click the START button on the lower left corner of your screen then on the right pane, click 'Printers and Faxes'.

Under the printer tasks, click 'Add a printer' then click Next on the Add Printer Wizard dialog box. Select 'Local printer attached to this computer' and uncheck 'Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer' then click Next. Click 'Use the following port' and select LPT1: (Recommended printer port) then click Next.

Select HP under the Manufacturer list and under the Printer list, select hp deskjet 990c then click Next. Select 'Keep existing driver (recommended)'; click Next, name your printer, select Yes to set your printer as the default printer then click Next. Select Yes to print a test page, click Next then Finish to complete the setup. Click OK when a dialog box appears.

Go back to the 'Printer and Faxes' folder and right-click on the name of your printer. Select Properties and click Ports/Connections then check 'USB...Virtual printer for.....hp deskjet 990c'. Click Apply then OK and you should now be able to use your HP Deskjet F4200 Series All-in-One printer.

Re-install the software for your printer. Download the drivers from the HP website and use the most current drivers for your product.

Also, check disk needs to be run on your unit to verify there are not other issues with your OS(Operating System).

Given the types of codes you have provided, it looks like you are running a Windows OS.
To run the check disk option, press and hold down the Windows Insignia key +S. This will bring up the Windows search option. Type "command prompt" and there should be a secondary window that shows you the results of your search. Look for the Command Prompt option and right-click the option and select "Run as Administrator" by highlighting the option and then left clicking your mouse.

A black window will come up with a variation of,"C:\Windows\System32\"; at this prompt you will see a blinking line\cursor. Type "chkdsk /r" then press enter. A report will come back stating that chkdsk cannot be run on "mounted" volume. Do you want chkdsk to run the next time the computer is restarted? Y\N
Press Y then enter.

Close the command prompt window and restart your PC. *WHEN IT RESTARTS, IT WILL TELL YOU TO SKIP CHECK DISK WITHIN X AMT OF SECONDS... DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!!!*
Once it has completed, it will boot into Windows normally and if there are any issues, it will tell you during the scanning process.

Hope this helps.

If not, then bring up google.com and download and run this: Downloads AdwCleaner ToolsLib
This may also help.

I have a officejet pro 8500. I have a problem printing envelopes

Check two areas
1.. It could be the software your using to print the envelops.

2...It could be the printer driver.
Go on HP's site, and check and see if there has been any updated printer driver, or patch file. Hope this helps.

HP Laserjet 2015dn will not print

You didn't say what type of printer connection you have (Parallel Port, USB, etc) and this may not help any but I do know that HP Printers are VERY finicky about not pluging in your USB cable until told to do so.

Also, did you uninstall the printer software prior to doing the reinstallation? That can sometimes make a huge difference also.

Unable to use printer over network with Server 2003 64Bit

Probably the best and easiest solution for your problem would be to buy an EDIMAX USB-Ethernet print server, or something equivalent. I have several of these running on the network at work. They're easy to setup and they work great.
