Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Just stopped mid hoovering and now won't switch on!

My Dyson DC07 upright will not switch on. It stopped mid-hoovering and I thought we'd had a power cut but no. Checked the fuse in the plug and that's ok. What could it be?

It is probably a thermal cut-off which is caused by a blockage. The machine will turn itself off before it overheats if it is a thermal cut-off. Once it has cooled down, you will be able to turn it back on again (usually 30 mins - 1 hour).

If the machine doesn't turn on at all anymore, you may need to replace the power switch. Call the Dyson helpline, they will do a blockage troubleshoot and if it's not that, they will tell you where you can find an authorized Dyson repair dealer in your area.

Hoover just stop working thought it may be fuse think motor gone!!?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC07 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This is often due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=4&product=DC07-SY

The correct way to wash the filters is shown in the video embedded below. The filters should be washed in cold water at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure they're totally dry before replacing them.

Hopefully this should resolve your issue. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 - our Helpline is open from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Kind regards,

Our upright Dyson has just stopped working. No

There are four possibilities:
1) If in a country that has a fused plug, the fuse in the plug (unlikely). 2) The switch (unlikely). 3) A break inside the cable that you cannot see (quite likely). 3) The motor is shot and needs replacing (very likely).

Take off the power cord from its two hangers, depress the coloured clip above the power switch and the wand will lift out along with the back telescopic hose.

Do you need to unplug a dyson DC07 in order to reset it?

What do you mean reset? There isnt a reset on the DC07.

If it is stopping mid use, then its probably the motor on its way out or your filters are blocked.

If you visit http://www.sparesaver.com/help-and-support/dyson-section/dyson-technical-advice-450/ they have alot of info on repairing dyson cleaners AND they sell the parts, cheapest ive seen online.

Hope that helps

It will most likely be the motor after 8 years. It will cost you £65 for a brand new motor and a full service if you can get it over to Manchester. Try here: Manchester Dyson Specialists

Dyson DC07 switched off whilst hoovering, It would not turn on, 1st it stopped rotating brush and than tuned off completly.. I tried ttoi change the fuse but still not turn on. Motor not runnung either.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Our machines are fitted with a thermal cutout switch. This will activate if the motor on your machine becomes too hot. This is caused by a lack of airflow to the motor, which is caused by a dirty filter or a blockage. Leave your machine for up to 2 hours, if it then switches back on, this is the most likely cause of the problem you are experiencing. Try washing your filter and checking for blockages.

If the problem continues, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

Dyson DC07

First, check your outlet for power...plug something else in. Then, inspect the cord and check the power switch. You can use a multimeter to test across the power plug of the vacuum in the ohms position. Turn the switch off and on. If it does not change readings...the switch or cord is bad. If it does, it might be the motor.
