Washer gets E3 error and stops right after aggitation begins.
I get an E3 error during the beginning stage of the wash cycle and then it shuts off. Right before this happens the motor makes a soft but distinct noise 3 times. It seems that once the washer is full of water that it won't spin to the left but has no problems spinning to the right. At first it would shut off right before the spin cycle but now it stops shortly after the wash cycle begins as soon at it's filled with water. I tested the motor terminals with a meter and i get no reading on the small switch that is connected to the rod on the back of the motor.

If you receive an E3 Error code, your washer may be unbalanced. This could be caused by the washer being too tightly packed, or clothing not distributed evenly. This will usually occur during the spin cycle. Stop the spin cycle.
F8 is taking too long to fill. Check the filter screens on the rear hoses.
The F8 E1 or Lo FL error code means your washer is not detecting the correct amount of incoming water. If the washer has an F8 E1 error or LO FL error, the door may be locked, and the control may be unresponsive. Aug 21, 2023
E3 error code indicates here that the washing machine has detected that the door on your washing machine is not shut and that can not start a wash cycle. If the door is shut and the E3 error still keeps on occurring that means the machine is unable to lock the door to begin a wash cycle and requires service to be repaired.
It is overload error.

To correct the overload, remove several items and add

Also try to download user manual from this site and check page 19.
It seems there is a fault on the main controller unit of the washer. It seems to start and then drain off in mid cycle. Now choose a different program and see if there is any change. Also check individually the inlet valve, the water level sensor and also the drain valve. Also check all the connections to the main panel.
The timer is bad. Do-it -Yourselfers should be able to replace it. If not then consult with a repairman. Sometimes they can walk you through the process or at least point you in the right direction. Good Luck.
without knowing more details, and considering it's age , my guess is that you have a disconnection (or a loose wire) to the solenoids under the tub. these solenoids activate the clutch system that pulls it into agitate and spin modes. it might be the solenoids, but rarely do both go out at the same time. it might be the timer contacts or connections behind the control panel. or, it might be the timer its self.
try unplugging the unit and check all the connections.

I have a Series 80 and when I lift the lid it does not stop aggitating when in wash mode. When I lift the lid it does stop spinning when in rinse mode. As designed.
To stop wash-mode aggitation at lid-lift, using the existing lid switch and other electrical components, is not easy and not recommended. I can think of a way to do it (triple-pole lid switch) but I will not detail the idea .. for safety concerns.
To stop aggitation, simply use the main settings dial control. You'll save money and possibly prevent a fire hazard!
Hi this could means that you may need to replace the washing machine bearings. Once the bearings are bad, the motor overheats and it will automatically shut down after the first rinse.
