When I enter a fax number and hit send, a message saying "too many destinations" appears. How do I fix this?

This solution worked. Turn it off at the switch on the machine. Unplug the power cord from the machine and any phone lines. Leave it alone for a half hour. Then, plug in the power cord, then the phone lines. Then turn it back on using the switch on the machine. After it cycles on, re-program the machine. Poof! Problem solved. Looks like you have to give the machine amnesia for it to work again.

Error code 48

Code 48 is internet disconnect.
On the machine if the machine is set up for internet connection, turn it off. Sometimes email is turned on and the other settings are not setup correctly.
Make sure all settings are done correctly
If one is faxing make sure the phone line is connected correctly and their is a good sounding dial tone.
One area to keep in mind is a phone dial tone turning off and on.This can be a phone company issue or poor line connectors in the building, even a corroded plug on the phone receptical.
Check these areas, even replace the phone line cord with a new one.
On the machine a fax machine not sending or recieivng, suspect a board causing the problem.

My phone has a answering machine with it but i now have call answer with cable how do i set up the phone to show that i have messages

If you want to use a different answer machine just run the phone line from the wall to the machine you want to use. Be sure you plug in the cord that say's "Line". Then use another cord that will plug into the answer machine that say's "phone". Plug that other end into your phone and be sure to turn the answer machine off on the phone. Good luck.

FAX, MODEL 920 NOT RECEIVING

Try calling your fax machine from a cell phone. If the fax doesen't answer, or if the line is busy, the phone line may be bad. Also check that the phone line to the fax is plugged into the receptical marked LINE, not PHONE. The PHONE receptical is to connect a telephone to the fax machine. If it still does not answer, try going into the fax menu and go to RECEIVE settngs. Try changing each setting, then call the fax with the cell to see if it answers. Write down each setting before you change it, so you can set it back if changing it does not solve the problem.

Cannot receive faxs

The majority of non receive issues are phone line problems.
3 conditions must exist for a fax to receive, the phone line voltage must be high enough, the phone line current must be high enough the the DB gain must be correct.
A fax receive should be viewed in the same way a remote controle works.
When you send a fax, you manually access the phone line when you select send, you connect to the phone line, normally via a relay. Once that physical connection is made, it can send anything. Maybe not well, but it will send.
Where as receiving is an electrical signal that activates the machine. If your phone line is not up to standard, its like haveing a remote control with weak or dead batteries and trying to turn on your TV with those weak batteries in it.
Issues, simply a bad phone cord between the machine and phone jack. Some resistance may have acrured over the years. The phone jack itself may have a poor connection.
A staticy phone line will cause a fax not to pick up. Plug a phone into that line and see if there is any noticible static.
Multiple devices plugged into the phone line with the fax machine. ETC an answering machine, credit card machine, etc can cause more of a draw on a shared line, if that is the situation, at least for a test, remove everything but the fax machine from the line and see if it receives then.
Rarely if the machine can send and not receive is the machine an issue.
Have your phone lines checked well and that sould resolve the issue. And make sure the line is not plugged into the extension or phone jack on the machine, but plugged into the line jack. That is also a common problem.

Fax machine will send faxes but will not receive any

The normal problem with a fax that will not receive calls it the phone line.
The Line Voltage, or current may be low, or the signal ( DB loss) may be affecting it.
Let me give you an explaination. When you send, you physically connect to the phone line, make the dial tone and whatever is there, it goes out over the line.
When you receive a fax, it is like a remote control, with a remote you need good batteries to generate enough signal to turn on a product.
With a fax, you require an electrical signal, like a remote control to activate the receive capability. Low power, voltage or current. or static, will not allow it to receive, just like a remote with a bad battery will not turn on a product.
Issues can be. The phone cord between the fax and the jack. A bad jack, something on the outside line.
Using a digital phone line, or having another device on the same phone line drawing down the line, or picking up. A credit card machine, answering machine, even another phone can cause issues. If on a shared phone line, disconnect everthing but the fax and have someone send you a test fax. See if that helps.
But more than 90 percent of fax will send , will not receive issues are phone line related.

Won't recieve a fax

Normally a receive problem is in the phone line. I will explane so you understand why I am saying this and not excusing the machine.
For starters as a resoution, make sure your phone line is plugged into the line slot and not a slot for a phone or answering machine. The slots I am talking about are on the fax machine.
Also if you have the fax on the same phone line with another device. An answering machine, a credir card reader, etc etc, make sure there isn't a conflict. Try just plugging the fax machine into that phone line.
Now to explane. When you send a fax, you manually turn on the phone line when you tell it to fax, Pressing that button energises a relay and just like picking up your phone receiver you turn the phone line on phisically.
When you receive a fax, it has to have the proper signal to electronically activate the fax/modem board.
Issues can be as simple as a bad phone cord between your fax machine and wall jack. They do build up resistance and cause problems.
3 issues are needed to receive a fax. The phone line Voltage must be correct, the phone line current must be high enough and there must not be a decibel loss.
A good example is a remote controle. You have old batteries. Well if you measured the voltage, it would still be 1.5 volts, but it can not deliver anough current to change a channel or adjust the volume all the time. If the line voltage is right, and your phone line it having a problem, it can't deliver enough current to turn on the fax, like turning on a TV with a remote, there is just not anough total power to activate it.
Remove everything else but the fax from the phone line, try it then.
Replace the cord between the machine and wall jack, Try it then.
If that doesn't correct it have the phone company test your line to the house, if thats ok, then repalce your wall jack.
99 percent of the time a phone line will be a problem.
