My DLP just did the same thing. I have found the replacement lamp for $196 and one for $169. Mitsubishi wants $230 for theirs.

Was watching TV, when it turned itself off. No lights; nothing. Turned it back on; sound but no picture.
Did a reset, and green light flashed rapidly for over 15 minutes. Turned off power' TV went black with a constsant red light.

They must all be programmed to do this at the same time - right before Christmas - isn't that special!. I have been checking into this myself and it appears that a new lamp is needed. If your set isunder warranty, the book says to call 800-553-7278. If it is out of warrany, they say you can visit www.mitsuparts.com or call the same number. The replacement lamp cartridge part is 915P043010. Their website lists the part as $239. I've been searching for hours for an alternate place to purchase, but haven't found one yet.

Good Luck.

I have toshiba 50hm67 replaced lamp...tv worked, then quit working again, and giving blinking yellow lamp error light when turn on...after a few moments tv tries to turn off and back on

OK. I have this same issue. I replaced my bulb a month or so ago. TV worked fine. Then one morning I turned it on and it was on for a good while, till it went to a black screen w/ sound only. Lights were going through the reboot process as designed for 8 attempts before it went to the solid red light. From the red light, if I unplug and plug back in, the tv will come on for a given amount of time, which varies, and then cut to the black screen. A repairman told me that it sounds like the digital board is bad. He wanted $150 for the board and $100 labor. I cannot find anywhere where the board would be located or where I can purchase a replacement.

Sony KDF-46E2000 - Screen Goes Blank

You definitely have a bad lamp. Sony rates the lamp life at between 4000 and 8000 hours. There are 3 things that effect the lamp life, listed in order of importance:
1) number of times the lamp is turned on and off. Every time the lamp is first fired, it takes life off the lamp. Customers I see that turn the TV on in the morning, leave it on all day and then turn it off on the evening can get up to 12000 lamp hours
2) ventilation. Be sure you have at least 6 inches of open space all the way around the set and that the vents are clear of dust and debris.
3) power. If the power is interrupted when the set is on, there cannot be a proper cool down cycle. The fans will run after you turn the set off to properly cool it down, if the power is lost this cannot happen. If your power is unreliable, buy a small UPS to let the set finish a cool down cycle

Occasionally a lamp will faill before the average lamp time due to being defective. from your purchase date it sounds like you got about average lamp time. Be sure to purchase AN ORIGINAL SONY LAMP as a replacement, becuase the aftermarket lamps are bad news, Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!
