If your docking station has an AUX IN port, connect the iPod from the headphone on the iPod to the AUX IN port on the docking station using an audio cable.

SOURCE: speakers won't work when Ipod is docked

The problem is that Atlec Lansing used a low quality (piece of ****) plug/interface for the dock. If you pull the top of the ipod forward while it is pressed fully onto the docking station, you'll get a surprise. It will work. This problem stumped me for days. Now, the next question is how much tension is the proper amount not to degrade the cheap plug further or damage the ipod itself.

Cheers,
Jeff

SOURCE: Bose Ipod docking station not working!

Make sure the power supply is connected properly. If the power supply is connected upside down or sideways, the system will make a thumping noise, or will not play at all. However, no damage will be caused by connecting this wire incorrectly.

SOURCE: does the new bose dock station charge the new ipod touch (32g)?

The new SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible all iPods and the iPhone 3G. Also the SoundDock Portable will do this. But..
Better news-> Call Bose. They can upgrade the 30-pin connector to charge via USB-only and function with the remote as well. $99. This will make your iPod touch 100% compatible and somewhat future-proof your SoundDock. If the SoundDock was purchased within 90 days (at full retail price), they will do the upgrade for a smaller fee or even free I think.. (new 1 year warranty given with repair/mod) btw- This is an Apple issue, not a Bose issue. All 3rd party iPod connection devices had to make this change at some point.

SOURCE: Bose Docking Station incompatibility with IPOD Touch

Hello all,

I have a Bose Sound System, and wrote that my iPOD touch would not charge. Got a message back from Bose, see comments. Do write them, as they give a solution. Seems they feel us on this issue...

'Bose is aware that the new versions of the Apple® iPod® Touch (8GB, 16GB and 32GB) and iPod Nano (8GB and 16GB) do not charge when docked on the original Bose® SoundDock®.

Previous versions of these iPods used a specific pin on the dock connector on the bottom of these iPods for charging purposes. The pin to charge these iPods was changed to a different pin with the introduction of the newer models mentioned above.

The Bose® SoundDock® was designed to charge iPod models which were designed to be charged via the older charging pin.

Bose is pleased to offer a solution which will allow you to send the SoundDock directly to Bose, so it can be modified to charge these newer model iPods via the new charging pin that Apple has used on these newer models.

If you are interested in learning additional details about this program, then we will need to know some additional information:

--Daytime phone number
--Daytime UPS shipping address
--Reseller the SoundDock was purchased from
--Date of purchase from the reseller
--Serial number from the bottom of the SoundDock

With this information, we can provide additional information regarding this program, so you can determine if you would like to take advantage of the offer.

Note: If you elect not to receive additional information regarding this program, please be aware that these newer model iPods will still play audio through the Bose SoundDock, and the SoundDock remote will still control the iPod while it is docked, however, the SoundDock will not charge these iPods for the reasons noted above.

I have a denon ASD 11r. When I connect ipd touch it just says 'loading; I can connect an ipod classic with no problem. Any advice? thank you

My Denon receiver has an attached iPod dock. I periodically have trouble getting it to work. It would be trying to do "loading" on its screen. When I manually switch to "remote iPod" mode, it would play music for about 3-5 seconds, and then switch back and try to do "loading". It seemed to be switching back to "browse" mode (display on TV) on its own.

After searching several times, I read how one person found the connection between the iPod and dock was weak, which I also noticed. I found that pressing firmly with no wiggling to ensure a good connection seemed to solve the problem. The person also suggested taking off the dock housing and scraping/sanding/thinning the plastic in the bottom of the dock bay so the iPod has better connection. That might help, and I may try that in the future. But for now, taking the effort of making a good connection seems to solve the problem.

Edifier brand docking station works with my ipod nano with auxillary cable but will not work in the docking port - no sound and no charging. Please suggest a solution. Many Thanks Stephen

There might be some issue with the docking ports. Try to connect a different iPod and see if its working, if its not working then there is some problem with the Dock connectors in the docking station.

Appreciate your help! My Bose ipod docking station just makes a clicking sound all the time and will not work. I have tried the plug both ways and it is the same. dean

This device seems to have a lot of problems with power - I'd suggest calling Bose. They are no doubt well aware of the problems with them and see if they will replace it.

PHILLIPS HTD 7001 IPOD DOCKING STATION

I also have the same problem but now I think it's the type of I-Pod you use. Do you use the I-Pod 80 Gb video or the newer 160 Gb I-Pod with the cover flow etc. ? The documention of the HTD7001 says it's only support some I-Pods. I would know sure if I would have a type of Video I Pod wich is supported by the documentation
