A cold reset should not reset the print count. Those are usually stored in non-volatile memory to prevent scammers from selling used products as new.

Hp 1020 printer total page count information

Hi, what operating system are you using? In Windows XP you can view the page count by doing the following:

- Go to the printer's Properties window (click the Start button, go to the Control Panel and click on Printers and Faxes, right click on the printer and choose Properties).
- On the General tab, click Preferences.
- On the Basics tab, click About.

You can see the page count in the About window, toward the bottom.

For page count or configuration page instructions on other printers and copiers, check out the How to Print Configuration Pages website. Thanks for using FixYa!

Whenever I print my document, it doesn't exist the document I want to print but many strange symbols appear on the printed paper, how can I solve this problem?

Cold reset
A cold reset changes most system parameters in NVRAM to the factory defaults. However, unlike NVRAM inititialization, a cold reset does not reset the page count, the paper tray sizes, language, or formatter number.
Note If an HP Jetdirect card is installed, remove it before performing a cold reset. Otherwise, the procedure will also reset all the HP Jetdirect settings as well as the printer settings.
To perform a cold reset
1 Turn the printer off.
2 Press and hold down the GO button.
3 Turn the printer on, and continue to hold the GO button for at least 5 seconds, but not longer than 15 seconds. During this process, the Attention LED will turn on.
4 Release the GO button.
Note If both the Attention and the Ready LEDs turn on before you release the GO button, you must start the procedure again with step 1.
5 The printer's LEDs will begin cycling. The cold-reset process will
run until completion, and the printer will return to the ready state.

If not work, tris this

NVRAM initialization

CAUTION Only perform the following procedure if absolutely necessary.
Performing an NVRAM initialization resets some parameters that cannot be restored later.
NVRAM initialization sets all default variables stored in NVRAM back to factory default values or to a default ROM value, depending on the variable. It also performs a system reset.

NVRAM initialization resets the following:

  • all menu settings to factory default values
  • factory settings such as formatter number, page counts, and factory paper settings
To perform NVRAM initialization
1 Turn the printer off.
2 Press and hold down the GO button.
3 Turn the printer on, and continue to hold the GO button for at least 20 seconds. During this process, the GO button, Attention, and Ready LEDs will each turn on.
4 Release the GO button.
5 The printer LEDs will begin cycling. The NVRAM-unit process will run until the printer is in the ready state.

My printer will not print the 1st document. It will come up as an error, and then I cancel that one. Then I RE-PRINT the same document and it works the 2nd time. Any idea's why my printer is doing this?

Do a Cold Reset. This will return the printer to the original factory settings. But first, print out a configuration page so you will have a record of any custom settings you may want to re-enter after the reset. To get the config page, press the Go button and hold until 2 lights begin to flash, then release the button.

To do the Cold Reset:

1) Turn the printer off

2) Turn the printer on. As soon as the memory count starts onn the LCD display, press and hold the SELECT button. Continue holding it until all 3 lights flash once then remain on solid. This can take up to 10-15 seconds.

3) When the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the LCD display, press the UP or DOWN button until COLD RESET is displayed.

4) Press SELECT. This will start the Cold Reset process. When it's finished it will continue the power on sequence.

5) Send a job to the printer for a test.

Change my printer network access password

For an HP Officejet printer:
You can reset the printer definitions taking off the power cord and holding # + 6 buttons (semicomplete reset) or # + 9 (full reset) while connecting power cord again.

For an HP Laserjet printer:
Try logging in with admin as username and leave the password blank.
If not, preform a "cold reset" on the printer which resets parameters back to factory defaults. You want to print off a configuration page first. From the service manual :-

Cold Reset

A cold reset changes most system parameters in NVRAM to the factory defaults. However, unlike NVRAM initialization, a cold reset does not reset the page count, the paper tray sizes, language, or formatter number.

NOTE A cold reset also resets all the HP Jetdirect settings as well as the printer settings.

2. Press and hold the Go button.

3. Turn the printer on, and continue to hold the Go button for at least 5 seconds, but not longer than 15 seconds. During this process, the Attention LED turns on.

4. Release the Go button.

NOTE If both the Attention and the Ready LEDs turn on before you release the Go button, you must start the procedure again with step 1.

The printer's LEDs begin cycling. The cold-reset process runs until completion, and the printer returns to the ready state.
