I have had the same problem with my Saeco Digital & Saeco Superautomica machines. After much work and somewhat expense I have finally found a simple fix. All you need to do is replace the gasket which is located just under the water reservoir.
(1) Take the water reservoir off
(2) Pop the round plastic piece located in the middle off (don't worry you won't break it as is it pretty tough)
(3) Take the black rubber gasket out and either:
(a) cover the present gasket with the brew group lube or
(b) replace the gasket with a new one.
which will give it a air tight fit and prevent any further water leakage from the reservoir.
You can get a new gasket for $5!!! :) I got mine at:

I also put some Brew Group lube (
http://cerinicoffee.com/Lube_brew_group_saeco.asp ) around the gasket as a temp fix until I completely replaced to gasket. Apparently, what happens is that the original gasket gets old, dry rots or whatever allowing the water to leak out of the reservoir. And then all over your work surface. The Saeco machines are quite intricate but are
Hope this helps.
