I have a RFG297ARS. The panel blinks -2 the temp in freezer section is higher than refrigerator section which is too high. I can hear compressor running. There is no icing. Could it be a relay or fan

I have checked and cleaned coils. I emptied it of draws etc. unplugged it for a week repowered it. I worked for a short time. Then went back to blinking -2 and running hot. I pulled panel off freezer back wall, unplugged fan, plugged it back in and rotated it manually before plugging it back in.

Yes sounds like a bad fan or seal problem? if ur defrost timer or thermostat was bad u would eventually get severe icing?

Testimonial: "Vman was most helpful as he suggested defrost timer only problem is there isn't a defrost timer it has an inverter board that 'contains' an element that acts as a defrost timer. I took apart the whole refrigerator looking for the defrost timer. I temporarily replaced inverter board and the problem was resolved."

SOURCE: no cooling

I would first check the defrost timer...It may be stuck in defrost position and not advancing to the cooling mode, a common problem...There is a slot, clutched cut, to keep it from being turned in the wrong direction and if you can get to it, place a screw drive in the slot and turn it slowly until you hear a click and/or the compressor start...Some timers are located in back, some in front( bottom), and others inside the refrigerator close to the thermostat...If this does the trick a new timer may be in order, but often it may not happen again...I would replace it anyway to keep from losing food...If the compressor does not start, it may be a bigger problem and usally the overload, especially after a storm with a power off on situation..Overloads burn up from to much amp draw, starting, or trying to start the compressor to soon after it stopping...The compressor pumps up on one side and pulls in on the other creating a pressue difference that must equalize on the off cycle for the compressor to start again...If the off cycle is cut short, like a power off/on situation, the load is to much for it to start until the pressures equalize on the off cycle...Hope this helps.

SOURCE: SAMSUNG RS267LAPB

You have a defrost component failure. Either the defrost thermostat or defrost heater most likely. Bypass the defrost therm and place into defrost by turning defrost timer clockwise until you hear a loud click. if heater comes on then defrost therm is bad .If heater does not come on then it is a bad heater. you can check continuity with a ohm meter Hope this helps

SOURCE: i have a samsung RS2578BB

this is a common fault, you need to replace the defrost heater and thermal cut-out in the fridge section behind the salad buckets, a temporary fix for a few weeks is to switch the whole thing off at the wall and leave the fridge and freezer doors open for at least 24hrs to allow the frozen up evaporator to defrost.

SOURCE: For no reason, my freezer

You have either a sealed system problem or a control board problem. It's difficult to know which is which. You will need a qualified technician to determine what the problem is.
Good luck

See "Typical Sweat Pattern" section under above conditions. • Freezer temperature set too cold • Poor door gasket seal • Insulation void

Fridge not working but freezer is. Why?

I presume it is a combined fridge/freezer. the reason for this is probably because it uses 2 compressors one for the fridge and one for the freezer. sounds like the fridge has lost its gas or the thermostat has packed in. turn the thermostat up and see if you can hear the compressor start up. if not then you will have to either replace the fridge freezer or get a repair person out to look at it.

Whirlpool High Temperature Alarm Keeps Blinking

New Refrigerator / Freezer usually takes up to 12 hours to get the food down to temp and the inside air temps to stabilize...

Now, try explaining that to a BSN who is required to take hourly temp readings on a refrigerator and just loaded it half full of warm soft drinks and is opening and closing the door repeatedly retrieving supplies.

You lower the temp to "suit" (shut 'er up) and tomorrow they're calling you back because it's too cold...

Not cooling or freezing

Hi Mick, this is AP.

I understand you are experiencing a no cool situation in your Frigidaire refrigerator. On your model, FRS26R4A, specifically the first thing to check it to make sure the refrigerator and freezer controls are not set to "0", turning the Freezer and Fresh Food Controls to "0" turns off the compressor and prevents your refrigerator from cooling, but does not disconnect the power to the light bulb and other electrical components. If you hear the noise coming from the freezer compartment it could be something blocking the evaporator fan which would cause warm temps in the fresh food and freezer section. If the noise is coming from behind the appliance it could be something in the condenser fan or the compressor may be locked up. I would definitely recommend contacting an authorized technician to repair your appliance if you find the temperature controls are not the cause of your high temperatures in the refrigerator. I hope this information helps.

Thanks,

I have a whirlpool Model ER8YHMXSL00 and it is not cooling. The temp setting is at the coldest setting but does nto get any cooler. The lights work and I can hear a clicking / popping sound in the freezer...

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Refrigerator side not cooling

The fresh food section is cooled by the freezer section by forced air supplied by a fan. If you have air flow, check the temp inside the freezer. It should be between 0 and -10. If not look inside your freezer and see if you have ice built up on the back panel. If so you have a defrost problem that is most likely a bad defrost heater, a bad termination thermostat or timer. If ther is no ice then check your fan under the refrig. If you can hear the compressor running it should be turning. If this all checks out then you have a freon system problem like. Low Freon pressure or a restriction.

Ice maker produces about a dozen cube in 24 hours

It can be one of three things.

1) The freezer temp is too high (Turn it up, make sure that airflow is not obstructed (Too full in either the refrigerator or freezer section is a major culprit in this.)

2) Inlet water temp is too high. Not much you can do about this one as long as it is attached to a cold water line.

3) Filter is full. Change the filter located either under the bottom or behind the unit.

Freezer warm, can hear fan, water coming out

no frost in the back panel of freezer? did this happen all of a sudden? compressor hot? condensor coils dirty?

Freezer always about same temp as the upper refrig section

Check those coils underneith. They are making the machine work harder IF they are dirty. They may be full of lint and cobwebs. All that needs to be removed.
